Hello all nurses users
I am 24 and I will be working on my pre reqs for nursing this summer. i found out I just missed the deadline for a AS/RN program . All I needed was A&P I completed by the summer to begin the program in the fall. Well now I have to wait until next year to apply.
The thing is most programs I looked into only admit in the fall and I will be 25 or 26 when I begin.
I want to stay on campus and get the college experience. I didnt do this when I recieved my undergrad.
Anyone else have this problem and just worrying they wont get into a program or will be a lil older than the traditional students in the program?
Who out there is living on campus when they went back for nursing?

Yeah i kinda worried about all this to, ecept there are a few programs in the part of penssylvania that start in the fall and spring. But at 25 abou tto be 26 i was worried about being the oldest student. Already in my pre req's most of these people are fresh out of high school and i have nothing in common with them at 25.5. But i wouldnt let it bother me if i was you. Just go for what you want just liek evryone else

I think you will find that there will be many students older than you in most of the nursing programs.

I'm working on my pre-reqs too, currently in APII with micro left to take. I dont think that at 25/26 you will be the oldest one in your class. That has been my fear and there are many nursing student older than I am doing pre-reqs as well!(I'm 44!)
The difference might be that I am on the wait list to get into a community college nursing program(ADN). The lower tuition seems to attract a lot of career changers & single moms.
Good luck on the rest of your courses!

Eheeeemmm....do you see my wrinkles? i am 46 and working on prerequisites.
I worry every day that I won't get in....but to tell you the truth some of the younger ones are in much worse shape than me......physically and academically
Good luck you will do very well, you are still sooooooooooooo sooooooooooo young

I'm 32, and I'd live on campus if I didn't have a family. (I have a high school freshman, who's a cheerleader....that would be asking too much to make her move.)
Don't let age get in your way!!!
Good luck!

Good gosh! You're not old! I'm turning 25 next month, and I just graduated in December with my ADN. There were about 10 people over age 30 in my class, and I'm pretty sure at least 2 of them were over 50! Don't worry about that at all. Nursing seems to be a growing 'second career' option for people, at least that's what it seems like here (Texas). :)
