To me the best of the oldie goldies is Nursing and the year Nursing 2004, and RN, there is one out there which I refer to as the nursing for dummies ones, saying that fondly, made whatever word easy, I have not seen them, but I hear people like them very much. AJN used to bore me to death.

You can request trial issues of the journals here...at no cost...I've gotten at least 3 different ones. I have subscribed to Nursing 2004 and I really like it.

Hey thanks Skislalom

I just had a look at the Web site and it looks great, I think my husband will have to hide the credit cards, there are so much to choose from.

Thanks eirthjona, no I haven't tried the uni website but I shall. I've ordered a couple of journals from the American website as they looked really interesting and they are really reasonably priced, you can forget subscribing to any UK journal as they are really expensive to get shipped over.

I've noticed on one of your previous posts that you, like me, want to do midwifery afterwards, in that case you should definately read Baby Catcher by Penny Vincent, your Uni will probably have it. Also there's a really great midwifery forum http://www.studentmidwives.co.uk that you may like to visit.

Thanks EMMY

Wow, how long did your two premature babies stay in hospital and how old are they?

I have three so you beat me by one, they are 12,10 and 6. It was after having my first child that I wanted to be a midwife although I have tried many times to talk myself out of it, I even studied criminology to get my mind off of it. I was really worried about how I would cope with the still births and the fact that you often work unsocial hours but I couldn't stop thinking about it so I thought what the hey and decided to follow my dream.

Good luck studying with four kids in the house, you'll get used to tuning out the noise :chuckle

I only had one premmie he is now 7.

My kids are 9, 7, 5, 4. and now all at school.

My oldest two live in Darwin with their dad (long story) The oldest will be living with me next year.

What are your thoughts on Flinders? I thought they where realy good exept for my wanting to stay over night with out telling them.

I think that more mums should be midwifes we know that things are different for each birth but somethings stay the same and I don't like midwife that tell me that I don't know my own body.
