Nursing in Italy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a midwife/ practice nurse in the UK. Any successful midwife /practice that has recently moved to Italy from the UK. How long is the process and what is the salary like?

By the way how do i start the process of finding a job there?

Wish to move over there during next summer.

Thank you very much Nightmare.

But i have read, and it seems most people love the place but it looks to me the salary is not too great.

Thanks anyway.

You will need to meet their nursing requirements although being in the EU makes it easier to find work, probably need to be fluent in Italian. Looking for work would probably involve contacting hospitals in the area you want to live

Florry,

Depending on where you're looking to go, there is a US Navy base in Naples, and a NATO base in Aviano in the north (US Air Force?). At any rate www.usajobs.gov would have listings ... I see you're a UK Nurse, I don't know what, if any hoops you may have to jump through.

If your a Britishh Citizen, then technically you can work without restrictions in any EU countries.

To be a nurse in Italy, contact NMC for current legislation when it comes to Nursing in EU countries as they have information to where you have to get in contsct with the relevat registration bodies of Italy.

You have to speak italian for the record.

For military base jobs for the US, they require that one hold US citizenship. They are no longer even open to green card holders.

As a UK citizen, there is no issue with you working in Italy since they are also a member of the EU. But you may have issues with getting credentials for some of the hospitals initially. Midwifery is usually additional licensure as well.

Please come back and let us know what you find out and best of luck to you.
