Nursing Curriculum Question

Published

Hello guys, I have a question regarding nursing curriculum, specifically for an ASN/ADN program.

I know that students have a set nursing schedule, all students in the program take the same program classes each semester, but do students take other classes other than their nursing classes?

If so, how many classes other than the nursing classes can a student usually take? one? two? within the semester?

Really appreciate it.

It is very possible to take non-nursing classes along with your nursing courses during the same semester. The non-nursing courses are referred to as corequisite classes. However, I wouldn't recommend doing this because many students discover that the nursing courses are too intense to be taken with any other classes.

Some people can juggle one or two corequisite classes along with their nursing courses.

What TheCommuter said is accurate. You can absolutely register for other classes. However, most programs recommend strongly, and for good reason, that you finish all co-requisites prior to starting the nursing program. Your other alternative is to take them during the summer or winter break if you have breaks. But I would strongly encourage you not to plan on taking anything in addition to your nursing courses.

I'm taking nursing, coreqs and a liberal arts course all at the same time. It must be doable because it's required.
