Northshore LIJ

Hello all,

I am interested in knowing how much new grads make at Northshore LIJ? (base as well as night differential) Also how much do new grads make during their fellowship? is it the same?

I'm day shift...it's about 83k. Not sure about the differential though. I believe the fellowship you start off making a little less

Are you day shift as a new grad? Also, does salary vary depending on the hospital? Thanks!

Yes! Day shift New grad w/ BSN. The salary shouldn't vary depending on the facility unless it's a clinic or doctors office (probably).

Thanks, that's good to know!

thank you for responding!! i would assume night shift differential would be around 87-89k normally hospitals tag on between 4-6k for nights. Do you mind me asking how much you bring home a week?

Yeah that sounds about right...I start on Feb 8, so I don't know exact details yet...I'm sorry I couldn't help u with that question. Overall LIJ has great pay, excellent educational reimbursement and great benefits.

OKAY THANKS!

Hey! I was wondering how you got the new grad job? I recently passed my NCLEX and I find it hard to get interviews or call backs from hospitals and rehab centers

I applied 55 times before i got 3 different interviews with them...I checked every night and applied to every job that was open...good luck

I did pretty much the same thing. But I also created a nice packet with a cover letter, resume and letters of rec nicely put together in a large envelope and mailed them to different hospital's hiring departments. It actually got the attention of a few hospitals and I got a couple interviews out of it. I mentioned that I applied online as well (I didn't want to seem computer illiterate) but I think the effort meant a lot to certain recruiters and got their attention. They see internet apps all the time but no one sends mail anymore. With that, it's always nice to send a thank you email AND a thank you card via snail mail after a good interview. It will set you apart from other candidates. But overall I sent out probably 150 applications online before I got my first job.

Good luck!!

Is sending mail better? I did try going to hospitals to drop of my resumes even before passing the NCLEX and the guard or the receptionist would turn me away and tell me to apply online. But thank! I would try doing that! What hospital are currently working?
