May 5, 201511 yr I'm one of the unlucky ones that got trapped with the transition and was forced to undergo thru the new rules. It has been almost a year of pingponging of mails with NMC (each costs at least £6 via royal mail). NMC really tests your patience with their bureaucracy. I am a Filipina nurse with few years experience in surgical ICU (specialises in cabg, mvr and other major heart sx) and have moved in the UK with my husband last year, I will be starting a job as a care assistant earning minimum next week because I am literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for self-confidence. I also an NCLEX passer, so it pays on how to tackle the questions strategically. I have not finished reading the royal marsden book yet and I would like to ask you people if it's really helpful to read the infamous blue print? hehe! I will be taking the exam on 22nd in Manchester, wish me luck! Thanks!
May 5, 201511 yr Royal marsden book is really great help. I didn't read the whole blue print..only the adult nursing and for me..the NMC code has also helped for the leadership and management questions...best of luck to those who will write the CBT soon..
May 5, 201511 yr Royal marsden.. Forget the blueprint.. I'm affected with transition as well. Just called up nmc today and was told to request for transfer of documents. Unfortunately, payment can not be carried over so i paid £140 AGAIN! Ugh!! :) pm me your number.. M n uk as well.. We could help each other..
May 5, 201511 yr Saw that too.. M transitioning from old to new system.. Whew! I should've submitted all my docs via old system before i called up nmc.. At least they will be the one to take care of it. Ugh!!!
May 5, 201511 yr @loveliegrace..i've just read it now.. It's only "policecertificate in relation to the country/registration authority mentioned above." So, nbi clearance only..
May 5, 201511 yr Hello kizmwah, I'm a novice wrt this forum and I can't figure out how to send you a private message. I have added you as a contact but I don't know if that'll solve it. Oh yes! Please don't remind me of how gruelling it is to speak with someone from NMC that says logical things!!!! Like my husband said, they are just happy to do the minimum that they're required to and would gladly skive!! ugh

May 5, 201511 yr good evening... May I know what edition is good to buy of the Royal Marsden Manual..? please help coz I am going to buy this book. is it good to buy from amazon or Wiley...? Need help please...
May 5, 201511 yr All of us here used the 8th edition (student). 9th ed just came out last month and i don't know if there are a lot if changes. I've noticed though from the additional resources of the student edition that you can access online that one chapter is missing. with MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) the one they have online is the same with the one in the book (8th ed) but with 1 additional question in some chapters. :)
May 5, 201511 yr So I took the test again earlier at MISNet and I wasn't planning on checking my PV account for the result till Wednesday when I go back to Panay, dejected again. But then, it seems God has other plans and I received NMC's congratulations email two hours after finishing the test. \o/What I can say this time is that NMC sure works fast about revising the test. I encountered no question from the Royal Marsden manual this time. I did get around 10 items worth of drug calculations (which means 10 free points to the essential questions), social media situations, SCIE safeguarding questions taken from the quiz on their site, and a couple of items were copied from an NCLEX leadership and management sample test I was studying, oddly enough. Maybe I'll pay ASC a visit tomorrow for advice on go how to transfer my papers from when I was still in the old scheme.Regarding the RM manual, I actually got the 9th edition after it was released. There isn't much difference, mostly just updates to reflect the new code and guidance. 8th edition users should be fine so long as they study the new code and added guidelines as well.
Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!
