Night shift nursing

Hi, folks. This is for the night-shift nurses...

What are some of the more "exciting" or "challenging" areas/units/departments/jobs to work as a night-shift RN? Or what was your favorite night nursing job?

Thanks!

Hi, another Night Nurse signing on! I have worked nights for the last 28 years out of 32+. I am not a day person, but having said that I feel, at least in the combined ICU I am now at, the night crew tend to help each other more readily than days or evenings (if working an 8 hour shift)

Less suits around so if a problem arises you usually need to do some thinking and re-arranging on your own before any back up appears.

As for being "fatter" or "bigger" ......I am RA (Regular Army) so have to maintain my weight and physical fitness. I have noticed that many of the government contract nurses tend to be above "average" weight for their height - especially the men! But then again, I am now located in wonderful Texas which has the (negative) distinction of being one of the "bigger states" (high incidence of childhood obesity and the adult obesity rate is high, as well)

Stay Safe!
