I'm so confused on these NG tubes. What is a dobhuff? What is a duotube? Are they the same thing? Do you not check residuals because they are in the duodenum? Has anyone given meds using the lopez valve and is anyone familar with automatic flushing systems hook up along with feedings? Any help would be appreciated ASAP as I need to know early in the week for clinical!!

I've noticed that. Some students start posting for help desparately on Sunday nights. Problem for me is that I can't even get online after 5pm (I have dial up service).

Is their anything Daytonite doesn't know? lol The goddess on care plans and NG tubes (to name a few)! Maybe you should change ur nick to Dynamite! How about I pay for a round trip, all expenses paid to VA so you can write my GI exam tomorrow? lol

Ha! Ha! No can do. I have yet another doctor's appointment in the middle of the day tomorrow.

Do you know what a duotube is? Also, what would a 6 fr, 15 inch tube be used for?? Peds maybe? It's to short for an adult and I don't think it is a peg?

No. Duotube sounds like a brand name (Duo might refer to the duodenum). Did you try doing an Internet search? 6 Fr would be a very small lumen. Just a guess and peds was not my area, but, maybe a feeding tube similar to a Dobhoff, but shorter, since it would only go to the stomach for a baby and would need to be inserted with a stylet.
