Newbie here

Hello everyone, im now a junior male nursing student. i just finished my first year in my nursing program, and just took my 1rst HESI, my score is okay, and i did well in all my classes, esp the dreaded PathoPharm. im the 1 out of 5 men in my nursing program (Juniors), and the rest is 40+women(Juniors). Im glad i found this forum. im scheduled to take Med Surg next summer, and just curious how was med surg for you guys, im interested in the Med Surg area. Thanx.

Also, what are the requirements to be a PCT? Ive been hearing a lot about it

you can get your PCT at any near by trade school that offers the CNA...but rumors have it you have to do your CNA first then upgrade to a PCT..i hope this is the right info i am giving you..lol

In many states, PCT is not a certification or program, but rather a job title. The requirements for PCT positions will vary from hospital to hospital, but if you're enrolled in nursing school, I think you'd have an advantage there.

the university hospital here in birmingham loves hiring nursing students as PCTs after their first clinical class. that way they get needed employees and the students can move on from being a PCT to a RN once they finish. im thinking about working as a PCT some while in school, but it depends on if my current job becomes a pain.
