from BICOL. :)

Hello, there, kabayan! I have been following through new grad discussions for a few weeks now since the terrible situation all of us are caught up in ~ unemployment and/or underemployment ~ has emerged. I am currently in SD who incidentally hailed from Bicol, too. Well, isn't life grand? Just wanna know how you're holding up because honestly, due to all these thwarting requirements posted in every job board, I am rethinking of moving out of state if sth feasible comes up. A quick question, btw, saen ka satuya?

You can talk in the international region section.....

My friends (BSN) in California cannot find a job either. Most RNs, that I know of, have been unemployed for a year or longer, and just to think- they're still pumping out a couple thousand new RNs EVERY year! Scary.

I got hired into an internship position while I was still at school getting ready to graduate. I highly recommend aplying for one. Deadlines are strict, so keep an eye out for those. Good luck!

BTW, I'm in TX, and out of my 62 classmates I would estimate half got a job right away

@kmj25: just wana ask if where you at here in san diego? coz i live also here in SD and like you, i'm also a filipino nurse who just passed my nclex-rn may this year. I've been applying to the facilities here in SD. BUt i just got 1 interview and they didnt call me back. they said they need an experience for the position. I am still hoping that one day we could have a nursing job...and aside from our perseverance for our journey, somebody out there would give us a hand to help us. God bless to us nurses.

wow! that's so good for you... im still looking all the possiiblities just to be employed. it's just so sad that recession strikes again. but still hoping that i can make it. with all prayers and motivation. God Bless to u there. ; )

hi kmj25,

congrats... I'm an RN too from Philippines. It's almost a year now since I passed my nclex and still I can't find a job, btw I'm from the bay area I'm so depressed right now:sniff: and I'm thinking of moving can you recommend me what is the best thing to do??

I graduated in March 2011 and I'm in the same boat. No previous healthcare experience, and no job. I live in the Pacific NW and the job market for new grads here is really bad. Very competetive and an astonishing lack of positions suitable for new grads. It's very disheartening when you can't pay your student loans because you can't find a job!

Look at LTC, Doctors offices, VA hospitals, prisons, schools, if you have a Boeing plant near you check them out - some Boeing plants have their own clinics with Nurses! Look at Agency nursing too, even if it's just a seasonal flu shot or wellness clinic job. Maxim Healthcare Services does Wellness clinics starting in early summer, then they switch to the flu season. It's not much but it's work until you find a permanent job.

Good luck.
