new grad: ER or float pool?

i cant decide which would be better experience. ultimately, i would like to work in the icu. idk if it would be more beneficial to get more experience working diff floors in float pool or deal with emergent situations in the ER? i know float pool can be daunting to a new grad but i am willing to either, whichever i can learn more from.

ER. Hands down. Maybe you won't be exposed to as much as a float rn, but you will have a chance to get really good at a critical care specialty. With float pool, you'll be the jack of all trades, master of none.

What are your career goals?

Hands down ER for the reasons given above.

You need way more experience to work in float pool. Go for the ER.

thank you very much, everybody :)

i am considering becoming a NP or PA down the line, in terms of career goals, but not quite yet.

ER, float pool is no place for a new grad
