New Grad Applications -- Transcripts Required?

To anybody who's applied for or hired for a new-grad position in the last few years, I've got a question.

Are transcripts ever requested? Usually? Occasionally? Rarely? Never?

Thanks.

For every job I applied for, along with letters of recommendation and reference forms filled out by instructors.

I only had one interview. The only thing they wanted was references. I asked if they wanted my transcripts but I was told no (since at the time of interview I did not have my diploma in hand, had to wait till the official "graduation ceremony")

I interviewed at several places and all of them requested letters of recommendation and transcripts. They actually looked at them all as well and commented on my GPA (good stuff thankfully lol). I had a friend who had a lower GPA and during the interview the interviewer said "How do you plan to pass the NCLEX with a GPA like this?"

Transcripts are especially important around here if you don't have previous medical field experience, which I did not. HTH

When I was applying to places as a new grad, I was never asked for transcripts. Never.

I guess the fact that I passed the NCLEX and had a nursing license was enough.

I was never asked for transcripts. I got a 'letter of completion' from my nursing program so I could start working as a new grad with no license. :)

Yes, both at my first job out of school and my subsequent one (over a year out of nursing school).

Depends on how selective the employer is when it comes to academics- for some positions it matters more than others.

My personal opinion is that you will only be asked for transcripts in one of the following cases:

  • You are in an area saturated with avaible working RNs
  • You are applying when there is an application frenzy
  • You are applying at a really popular facility
  • You are applying for a really selective or desirable position (almost any specialty other than Med Surg)

:pu need to show ur official diploma..or transcript...if u graduated in may..u have o wait till june to get ur official...once u got that..no trascript is needed(thank god...lol)

I wonder if the transcript thing is regional.
