I never had to take the NET to get into block 1 at the skill ctr. But I obviously have to take it to get advanced placement into block 3. So what's the net like? Is it easy? Hard? Should I study? Is there a study book?
Thanks!

The NET wasn't too bad. They do sell a study guide for it at the bookstore...it costs around 35.00. You may be able to pick it up for less on amazon or half.com. Here is the title:
STUDY GUIDE FOR NET/HOBET (ED FROST)
I used this book and aced the NET. I was pretty nervous about the math part of the test so I kept retaking the practice test in this book. It worked, I ended up a with a 99 in the math section (keep in mind, I still use my fingers to count!) The book also has some good tips for the reading part of the test as well.
Good luck!

I took it without even know what the heck it was. The math section was LOOONG and I did study up on math since it had been about 25 years since I had taken algebra. The rest of it was easy. Study up on basic algebraic equations, decimals (adding, multiplying, division), roman numerals, all kind of basic stuff.
do we get to use calculators on the test, or do we have to go in with scratch paper and pencils??
I'm pretty good at math, I've taken up to college algebra and I ace my med math tests on the first try, but I might buckle under the pressure of not having a calculator!
sorry...no calculators allowed....you do get plenty of scratch paper though.....the calculations are pretty basic, converting %'s to decimals and vice versa, performing basic functions with fractions etc...you really don't need a calcualtor.....

you need to study up on fractions, decimals, basic math...........y'know, all that old school stuff. lol. I did sooooo much better on the algebra portion than the basic math but still did OK. BUT I studied. Got that book. PM me if you are interested in buying the book at a cheaper rate. I was gonna sell it on Ebay anyways...:wink2:

I stressed about the NET test, bought the book, studied and still stressed. Passed it first try (good thing cuz it costs $25!) I was worried about not having a calculator and figured I'd be rushed to do my + - x / stuff ....I was....
Found out today in the math refresher course that they let you use a calculator on the NCLEX. Now why, tell me, do they not allow them for the NET!
No kidding! Even on our med math tests where we have to get 100, they let us use calcs. And in clinical, if it's not written down on the order in front of you, you can use your palm.
ANyway, I ended up taking the NET at Rio and scored a 73 on the math. I was worried about that part. I got an 89 on the english/reading portion. So I passed and that is all I care about!
