NELRP 2014

Has anyone started to apply for the Nurse Corps loan repayment program? I wanted to see if anyone is having trouble using the application at all?

I got Congrats email amd Welcome kit on 09/10 at 1P. Finally)))

I keep dreaming that one day I'll wake up with my login saying I'm a finalist or an e-mail or something....chances are slim at this point but I'm still hopeful and not giving up!

So discouraged! Has anyone else received an initial award letter recently? Like in September? If HRSA is already out of money, you would think that they'd just go ahead and let us know. To top it all off...I just had surgery for a work related injury. Horrible timing! Now I won't have any income for almost a month and can't risk deferring my student loans if there is still a chance I could receive this loan forgiveness. Talk about being in a tough spot! Gah!

You can defer your student loans, I was awarded this year, but between the time I had filled out the application and heard back I had decided to go back to school. So when I was awarded my loans were in deferment (in school).

SDNURSE1, I did the same thing. Since my loans are in deferment, I plan to pay off my private loan first. This way I only have one payment when I finish school.

I received my Welcome Packet on Friday!! Does anyone know once we receive the Welcome Packet when we start getting the stipends? I noticed that it said if you do not receive anything by the end of the month after receiving the award to call, but it didn't say when we actually get the first one. I usually make all my student loan payments at the beginning of the month, so I was hoping to not have to make Octobers!

For those who are applying for the Nurse Corp Loan Repayment Program, I spoke with a representative and supervisor from HRSA today, and they both confirmed that the award period ends on October 31st. They also said that awards will be made right up until the end so we all still have a good chance of receiving awards! Still holding out hope!!!

You are suppose to receive funding 30 days after your Welcome Packet.

However, I was supposed to receive funding in August, but there was an error and instead will receive a double payment in September. I believe we are told to expect payment at the end of the month.

Ugh totally bittersweet if the deadline isn't until the end of October. I am paying a super high interest rate and was looking forward to the end of this anticipation game so I could consolidate my loans and pay ideally a lot less than my current $1200/month in nursing school loan repayments. I mean obviously I would love to get the nelrp offer still but just the ugh I have to pay that much again for another month is a bummer...especially when there's a good chance I am not even chosen.

I was told by a rep that everyone will be notified by September "31". Didn't give me much confidence in what the rep said! hahaha. If it will be until Oct 31 - maybe they are waiting for more funding. This is my first time applying. I'm an RN with d/I only 43% - sounds paltry compared to some who have 200%. I will apply next year if not successful this year - however, I won't be as anxious next year as I am now.

It was comforting to find out Thursdays are the day the notifications appear to be sent out. Now I'll check Thursday nights.

Reps at HRSA say to check your junk mail for notification. Can anyone say who the "sender" is when email notification is sent?
