NELRP 2014

Has anyone started to apply for the Nurse Corps loan repayment program? I wanted to see if anyone is having trouble using the application at all?

Wow! Lots of 7/31 folks still waiting. Hopefully anyday now!

I was told that we have until October 30th to hear, however, if last year was any indication of how this year will pan out, it doesn't look good. :(

I'm trying to keep positive but it just seems like a lot more people were awarded last year...at least according to this thread. I know those of us whom are still waiting desperately need this help. Still praying!!!

Fyi just so you know on the final review page it says all awards will be given out by September 30th.

Thanks! It's amazing how everyone with HRSA is on different pages. We all get different information! Geez lol!

I am under final review from 7/31. Yesterday, 9/05, I had my contract signed. Looks promising. Those folks from 7/31, check your contract page))).

any others with a 8/15 finalist email and still waiting?? I'm getting worried with the 9/30 deadline for awards approaching...

looks like people are getting acceptance emails 4-5weeks-ish after..

My contract was signed on Friday too! Hopefully a congrats email will be soon to follow!

What day did you sign your contract? I got the email on 7/31, but signed my contact on 8/4/14. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I am still waiting on my second signature...

I signed mine on 7/31, the same day they sent me the finalist email.

i was awarded in 2013. I had this great plan in my head pay off my private loan which is 35k and use the rest for my 120k federal loan. but I calculated and I would have enough to pay it up for 10 years towards the public student loan forgiveness program. I read of course you are not allowed to pay ahead and make large lump payments and still use the PSLF program. The only option is to use the money they give me each month put it into a savings account and use it for the next 10 years, but I also belive that after 2 years you are asked to provide documantation that you applied your payments to your loans, this is what I have heard.

I know you all just were rewarded but has anyone had any thoughts or called and found anything out?

I believe that you have to show documentation that you are using the money for your student loans. I don't think that you can save it up. That is my understanding. My plan is to use mine for my Federal Loans only. I will keep paying on my private loans, which are significantly less than my Federal Loans. I would definitely verify with them that what you are doing is okay, because without documentation, it could look like you are pocketing the money.

I have verified and you do have to use the money to qualify for the 3rd year, but this prevents you from qualifying for the 10 year public loan forgiveness. Large payments do not count towards your 10 years of payment.

I was just wondering if anyone else is dealing with this issue or has an suggestions, I assume there is not much that can be done.
