  1. My charge nurse in med/surg has so many duties plus can have up to 4 patients herself. She is a wonderful nurse and person, and helps when asked, if possible. All the nurses in med/surg are stretched thin to provide basic patient care, assessment, med passes, ABX, etc. If something goes wrong, i.e. bad IV needs a new one...unstable vitals, out of the ordinary orders, order clarification, patient advocacy, our day goes from real busy to frantically busy. Admin doesn't care. We run our asses off for 12+ hours a day. We become exhausted mentally and physically toward the end of shift. We are making hundreds of micro/macro decisions daily to keep our patients safe and on the road to recovery. Somethings gotta give. We are human beings, but expected to perform like we are super human 12+hours a day. Not right, not fair to us or our patirnts, not safe.
  2. I got my rejection email on 09/30/14. I was in the highest tier for area of need, but my loan to income ration was only 45%, which is greater than the 20% requirement. I am not applying next year; not after I saw some loan to income ratio's at 180%-200%!!! Makes me think I'm in pretty good shape compared. With so many qualified applicants, I am guessing selection may be by a lottery of some sort; taking all the qualified applicants and doing a random drawing. I don't know how else they could do it. Did anyone get an award whose loan to income ratio was only in the double digits?
  3. Is everything completed for you now. Are you a "participant" now?
  4. Reps at HRSA say to check your junk mail for notification. Can anyone say who the "sender" is when email notification is sent?
  5. It was comforting to find out Thursdays are the day the notifications appear to be sent out. Now I'll check Thursday nights.
  6. I was told by a rep that everyone will be notified by September "31". Didn't give me much confidence in what the rep said! hahaha. If it will be until Oct 31 - maybe they are waiting for more funding. This is my first time applying. I'm an RN with d/I only 43% - sounds paltry compared to some who have 200%. I will apply next year if not successful this year - however, I won't be as anxious next year as I am now.
