Needs Career Advice

hello everyone who might come accross this..i'm a foreign educated BSN graduate who just recently failed the NCLEX-RN for the first time..while i'm still waiting for a retake,i'm planning to work part-time..could it be possible for me to work still on a medical related job even without an RN license yet? i was licensed RN in my country since 2001 and have 3 yrs hospital and clinical experience.. are there facilities in SoCal that might hire me? kindly advice, thanks :)

I'm going to move this to international nursing so that you get more responses. Much depends on your visa status, whether you hold a green card, etc..

All depends on what visa you have for the US, if it allows you to work and the job doesn't require a RN license then you can work but if it requires a RN then you will have to wait and pass NCLEX. Some medical jobs will require RN but a lot depends on type of job and requirements

thanx to silver and traumaRUs:)

yup,i do have my greencard and been living in CA..i'm just confused if what position i would be fit for if ever i apply in a nursing home for an instance..CNA? LVN? ( i'm not certified in either two ),i have BSN degree..my Interim Permit has expired..i'm sorry to bother you of my queries, just really wanted some light

Sorry to hear about failing the NCLEX, I have to ask why didn't you go to school here? I always wonder why people with a green card go elsewhere when they want to practice in the US.

How about unit secretary?

CNA involves 6 week course, usually the red cross sponsors them. You will have to pay.

LPN, you will have to have your credentials evaluated and pass the NCLEX PN.

I personally would concentrate on passing the NCLEX and if you check out the NCLEX forum and Suzanne's plan there is much there to read.

You cannot work as an LPN if you are not licensed as such and have passed the NCLEX-PN exam.

The only job that you could take would be as a CNA, it does not require any licensure.

I would focus on passing the NCLEX-RN exam as others have mentioned above.

Best of luck to you.
