Well, everyone you have always been there for me before , troubles with preceptors, etc now I have a new dilema. I have 200 hundred clincial hours left and my thesis. When I selected my chair I thought she would be supportive, return documents in a timely manner due to problems she had none of this has happened. I have 2 choices, keep the same chair and keep riding her to get documents back to me and hope I graduate in May. The second choice is get a new chair, and graduate in August. And I ask myself is it worth the stress trying to graduate in may. Last year was very stressful family wise, my dear sister became very ill last april, and eventually died in June, my mother in law after living with ALS for 6 months died in July, between april and July I was driving back and forth to Washington DC and West Va from St Louis for 4 months I was never home more than 2 weeks at a time Needless to say last year was an emotional and draining journey for me.I just got off my paxil due to all the stress and dont want to stress my self out again to where I got depressed because I could not handle all that was on my plate ( i know i know got never gives you any more on your plate than you can handle but I started feeling like the turkey platter). My university department chair stated that my chair had admitted that it was her end not getting things back to me in a timely manner. Help advice please. ( my poor dog can only sit and listen for so long)

Aw - I'm sorry you are still so stressed. I think if I was you, that I would just ask for another chair and graduate in August. In the grand scheme of life, its 12 weeks of a reprieve in my book.

School plus what you have gone through I have to agree: "its 12 weeks of a reprieve."

Voice the same. I would have a honest conversation with your existing chair and explain (which I am sure you have) your need to graduate in May. So map out a plan and graduate in May with a thesis and a new chair. Having had to do a thesis...it's stressful enough and with everything else you have gone through lately...enough is enough. Get a new chair (perhaps someone else in the committee can become the chair?).

I agree. School is not a race. Graduating in August to keep your sanity is worth it.
