NCLEX's decision for me

Published

I took my NCLEX on Monday. I had 205 q in about 4 hours. Pure torture. I found myself throwing my hands up at the cubicle like I have no idea of the answer. It was tough. I thought for sure I failed. I tried the tricks as listed but nothing worked for me. For the past 2 days my stomach in knots and not feeling well at all. I find myself constantly checking online to see if my name appears. Get this, I checked yesterday afternoon to see my name shown up as passed! I am blown away. Still hasnt sunk in. I cried and called my hubby, he ended up coming home early from work with a dozen white roses and a nice bottle of red. I had to share this with you all. Dont give up on your dreams. Dont give up on hope.

I just finished taking my NCLEX. I had 225 q in about 4.5 hours just like you. It was absolute pure torture just like you said. Just like you, I found myself throwing my hands up at the cubicle like I have no idea of the answer!! It was so very very tough and discouraging. I AM THINKING FOR SURE I FAILED, I am just beside myself, and don't know what to do. I took the Kaplan course and took all the questions and was doing well, and thought I was prepared...I also tried the tricks they suggested but nothing worked for me on many questions durng the exam. My stomach is in knots and I feel I can't breathe I am feeling sick and not feeling well. I long to see my name show up as passed. I just had to tell you that your post is bringing me hope, along with lots of prayer, I just wanted to say thank you, your postig made me feel better...I want to be a nurse so bad it hurts, I don't want to give up on my dreams. I have lots of prayer and lots of hope and lots of praye. God, I pray I passed, I feel so sick.

To Love4Sherry - I feel for you, knowing the anxiety and stress this test causes is unreal for others to get unless they have or are doing it. Its a long time preparing for it, and very costly to take. To know we have to "be on it" the day of the test is nothing but luck.

The best advice I can give to you is this: you are intelligent for you graduated from nursing school! The test is just that something actuaries made up with nurses to mess with our minds, recall many questions dont even count they are used for the next switch of tests. Overall, all the NCLEX is doing is making sure you are and will be a safe nurse. I am sure you are other wise you wouldnt be where you are today. If by chance it doesnt happen, so what, you do it again in 45 or 90 days and you will know what to expect on the next one. Your anxiety will be subdued. It blows but really its OK. No one cares once you pass if you took it once or 100 times, it doesnt matter... and never will. You must keep on trying....dont give up. Please do keep us posted as to your outcome. We are behind you 100%.
