Hi, I am really new at this cool website. I love reading everyones posts, but I now have a question......
Does anyone know anyone that took the NCLEX-PN and it shut off at 85 and that person failed???
Everything that I have read says that when the computer shut off at 85, they have passed, but it can go the other way, right??
Please help me put my mind at ease!!!!:uhoh3:

hey i took my boards on the 21st of august and mine too shut off at 85. i was relieved at 1st and then my doubts started to invade my happy thoughts. all you can do is hope that you did well and if not the worst case is that you'll have to repeat the test. my parents told me that and i think if you look at it that way its not the end of the world. im still on pins and needles every now and again. i stooped to checking out liceanse names to see if mine was there and it wasnt but in cali it takes up to 4 weeks for results so maybe its too soon to be checking.
take care;):uhoh21:

Technically I think it can shut off at 85 if there was no hope of passing but I highly doubt it. My guess is that if it shut off at 85 it's because you did a good job and no more questions were necessary to prove your competence.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Last week a classmate asked my instructor the same question. What it really boils down to is, whether you have 85 questions, 95 questions, or 205 questions, there is no way to tell if you passed or failed based off of the number of questions you receive.
It may have shut off at 85 because you answered enough correct or it may have shut off at 85 because you answered too many incorrectly (let's hope for the other). I'm not trying to discourage you but don't want you to be misled. It can go either way. My instructor helps create and chose questions for boards so I'm pretty sure she knows what she's talking about.
Just relax and know that you did the best you could and I'm sure you've passed!
Good luck to you!
Thank you!! That's good to know. thanks for the information. The more time that goes by from the date that I tested, the mellower I am becoming and gettng a little more confident. I will let you know how it turns out for me!! :balloons:

I took it on Aug 8th. It shut off at 85 also. Still no word. It is sure nerve racking isn't it. I'll let you know. Two of my classmates said that they got 85 questions too.
Good Luck to you.
beargirl, you should be hearing something soon. I have heard that people in Cali are getting their results 3 weeks, almost to the day of taking their test. Definitely let us know!!! Good luck.....My fingers are crossed for you :paw:
