Took NCLEX-PN today...feeling really bad
I took my NCLEX exam this morning and it shut off at 85. Now that I am at home I am finding things in my book that I marked wrong. I am so discouraged and think that I might have failed. I had several pharm questions and select all that apply. I am just feeling awful. :(I've heard that if you stop at 85 questions you either did really bad or really good. I just feel like I did more on the bad side. I guess these next two days will be days of torture. Does anyone know of many people failing with 85 questions?

Taking the Nclex-PN in 3wks
I am also preparing for state boards (no date yet). I have been reviewing the material in my books that we used in class. I was told that that would be most helpful. After reveiwing one subject I pop in a disk and test myself on that subject. So far I feel pretty good about the study habit. Hope this helps and Good Luck To You!

third shift
I am glad to hear that you all LOVE working third-shift. I just graduated from a PN program today and plan to work third-shift after I take state boards. A lot of class mates thought that I was crazy for wanting to work third-shift but I have my reasons. Everyone's different. Thanks!

NCLEX--shut off at 85?!?!
Last week a classmate asked my instructor the same question. What it really boils down to is, whether you have 85 questions, 95 questions, or 205 questions, there is no way to tell if you passed or failed based off of the number of questions you receive. It may have shut off at 85 because you answered enough correct or it may have shut off at 85 because you answered too many incorrectly (let's hope for the other). I'm not trying to discourage you but don't want you to be misled. It can go either way. My instructor helps create and chose questions for boards so I'm pretty sure she knows what she's talking about. Just relax and know that you did the best you could and I'm sure you've passed! Good luck to you!

Lpn/rn
I attend a private college (graduation Sept 7, 07). There was a two-year waiting list at the community college that I attended. I decided to pay more money than wait two years and possibly be accepted to community college.

Plus size nursing students
I am a plus size nursing student. I wear a 20. I had no problem finding uniforms. Every uniform store that I have been to has my size; even Walmart. When I had clinicals in the OR they had scrubs to fit my size. Don't worry. You'll be fine. There's big people everywhere.:wink2:

Is LPN a good first step?
I am currently in an LPN program and I graduate this September 7th. I chose to become an LPN first because I wanted to be able to work as an LPN while having my employer foot the bill (all or some) for me to become an RN. There are so many different reasons and options for you to chose. The RN program is longer (depending on which program; 2yr or 4yr). I plan to receive my 2 year associates degree for RN. If I attend the school (LPN-RN bridge) that I plan it should take me a year (full-time) to complete. So, I would have received my LPN, RN, and tuition reimbursement (from my employer) all in about 2 years (2 1/2 at the most). Draw out a blue-print for the next few years. Write down all of the pro's and con's and make the choice that fits your life the best. I do not regret the route that I chose and am so excited to be graduating in a few months. Good luck to you!

Too Soon To Study for NCLEX-PN???
I will graduate from PN program on September 7th :nuke: . I have begun studying for my NCLEX-PN and am wondering if I have started too soon. I have finished up my med-surg courses and only have maternity, ob, ped's and a few others left to take. I only want to wait one month after graduation to take boards. Does anyone out there have any advice on when I should start studying for boards or even when I should take boards after graduation? I heard the sooner the better but I've also heard people taking it five and six months after graduation. Well, that's my only concern for now. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Anyone graduate from Olympia College LPN Program?
I am looking for graduates of Olympia College LPN program in Merrillville IN. I am currently attending and was hoping to get some feedback about their experience and how things have gone (career wise) since graduation. That would be great.:wink2:

nursing school suggestions
I would strongly advise against Brown Mackie. I have heard terrible things about them. My best friend applied to get in and they just didn't seem to have it together. They even wanted her to put down $1,200.00 just to start (and then pay $234.00 a month). I hate to break it to you but most nursing programs are quite expensive; unless you can get into one at a community college; which usually has a waiting list a mile long (hence the cheaper tuition). I currently attend Olympia College in Merrillville Indiana. Their program is pricy as well but I wasn't willing to wait on someone's waiting list for the next two years. I used my financial aid and took out some school loans. The program is 12 months long. I have only been in school for three weeks now but I absolutely love it. It was a little tough getting into the program (because everyone is trying to get into the program) but the determination paid off and I was accepted on my first try. I was #29 out of 31 students accepted (close huh?). Well I hope this helped you a little.

New LPN program in Indiana
I'm not goint to knock anyone for paying too much for school. The way I see it...they make it almost impossible to get into these nursing programs; so when you finally do get into one you are willing to pay. I attend Olympia College in Merrillville Indiana. The tuition (including books, uniforms, etc.) is around the same price but they accept financial aid. Most colleges like Olympia and Ivy Tech are private colleges (not community colleges) so you are going to pay a heck of a lot more. It's just a matter of where people are in their lives. Some people have time to wait to be accepted into the over crowded community colleges that have waiting lists a mile long. I am not getting any younger and decided that I would rather pay the higher price, use my financial aid and student loans, and get my LPN, than wait to be accepted into the program in 2008. Think about it, doctors, lawyers, etc. all had to pay some out of pocket cost in order to achieve their educational goals. It's not goint to come easy. No matter what happens keep your head up and move forward. Don't let any of these schools discourage you from your dream. You are going to run into some real jerks. Sorry for such a lengthy message.
