Quick question: In order to pass the NCLEX, do you have to get above passing in each of the "Client Needs" areas or each of the "Categories of Client Needs" area? It makes a big difference

Great question! My Kaplan Classroom Review instructor said that we don't have to pass every content area which is nutty to me. I'm not sure if that helps. Part of my plan is to look at the Test Plan by the test creators. Here is the link:

As far as I know, questions from each category are picked at random or you may get more questions in one particular category than others. You just need to have 60% correct on passing level questions. Not 60% or above in each category. So basically study each category. I hope I answered your question.

To pass NCLEX you need a pass in all categories. Suggest checking out the NCSBN website out

Hi....I'm pretty sure it was a post of yours I responded to on another thread, telling you that your instructor was/is mistaken. You DO have to pass (at or above passing standard, to be exact) every category in which you are tested. And you will be tested in every category. Period.

You have to be a minimally competent nurse in every category.
