NCELZ study tips

I took a Kaplan review class and took my NCLEX. Does anyone have any recommendations for studying for the second time. I am undecided if I should retake the Kaplan class or just study on my own.

Study as if you had never tested before. You don't want your brain to trick you into skipping over sections because you "think" you know it already.

I studied on my own. If you can trust yourself and set time aside to do it on your own then go ahead and do it.

Good luck to you

I would advise not to take Kaplan again. I also failed using Kaplan and I took Hurst Review and I am taking the exam again in the next 10 days. When I got my report back, I was weak in one area and near passing all the others. I was able to stay in touch with my instructor and she told me that I needed to know my content better and to use NCLEX 3500 plus the LaCharity - Priortizing and Delegation book. That is what I am doing this time. I was very please with Hurst because they actually went over the content for the exam. Hope this helps. If you can get a refund from Kaplan do so if you took the live course not the online course.

hi, me too i took nclex rn last 2009 and had all near passing and one below.. i took kaplan again right now, when r u going to take urs?

I took Hurst Review instead of Kaplan. I live in Arizona. I feel that I needed to work on my content. That's what my instructor told me when I failed. She stated I needed to know more content in order to pass. It took me a month before I studied again, but I am taking my exam in early March. I am reviewing my content each day as well as doing questions. I don't want to take the exam again. It is too hard to prepare to study again.

yeah its hard to study again, i did the saunders after i failed. hard to focus though i have to do it... i am taking on march 2nd week but still working on kaplan, i do not have money for hurst, though for kaplan i only paid extension. how is hurst compared to kaplan? how many hours u review each day?

I review about four hours a day. Hurst was much different than Kaplan. Kaplan went over questions, while Hurst actually went over content that we should know for the exam. I should of taken Hurst first and then did Kaplan, then I probably would of passed. I did not know enough content on the exam and that's why I failed.

r u taking the live review or online dvd review for hurst? i am just reviewing my materials that i have before but if hurst is good for few days or one week to finish then i do it? how many days or weeks did u finish hurst?

I took the live review from Hurst. It only a few days course. It four days around 28 hours of review of content.

I have been looking into different study tools and have it narrowed down to Saunders and this online program NCSBN Learning Extension. Does anyone have any recomendations regarding those?

NCSBN is an OK review for the price it is written by the NCLEX people.

I took Kaplan also 2x and failed 2x.

I also did ATI, Saunders, NCSBN, and Mosby. I'm thinking of investing 300.00 for the Hurst DVD review cause I don't know what else to do to pass.
