So I came to this website because I have absolutely no idea about the process to become a nurse in the Navy nurse corps program. I graduated from a BSN program in May 2014. I am expecting to take my NCLEX September 2014 .. Latest October 2014 and I was wondering about how long the application process would take. I also would like to know if my application could be accepted before I took my NCLEX exam.
I also have have a question about how long I plan to study for the NCLEX. (8weeks) Is that too much time ?

The process will take a few months and the boards for this year (if there are any) will take place in a few months so you should talk with a recruiter asap. He or she could also answer any other questions you have about the process and or Navy Nursing

DaejaJ.Lucas…hello and hope this finds you well.
For FY15 the applications for Direct Accession (which is what I am assuming you are asking about) will begin being accepted on October 1, 2014. An application may not be processed without Credentialing being submitted, and for new grads you have to take your NCLEX to receive completed credentialing. For this FY we do not expect a large number of Active Duty quotas, so if your application is not submitted during that first month of October, then you are going to be working for FY16 and those applications will not be accepted until October 1, 2016.
If you are considering Reserves you must work for at least 90 days in a specialty that we have a quota for in order to have an application submitted.
Bottom line: Get on Navy.com and do the Look for a Recruiter option at the bottom. Go through the process of calling the number and going through the questions to determine basic eligibility and then call the recruiter you are provided with. You can also google Navy Recruiting Districts and then choose the one closest to you and start that way, but the Navy.com site works every time and gets you to a medical recruiter in the end…you just have to be patient.
Let me know if you have additional questions and I will be sure to try my best.

Is 8 weeks to long to study for your NCLEX that is hard to answer since some will need more time and others less.

If you aced your nursing school classes, a few weeks should be more than fine. I only studied casually for 3 weeks. All I did was do a few hundred practice questions per day.
