  1. navywifeRN, hello and hope this finds you well. I have no idea other than to tell you sort of the same thing from the other post...at least one spot is proposed, but nothing is definite until we have a signed accession plan. FYI - the accession plan is a plan listing out all of the numbers of all of the active duty persons (meaning pilots, medical, and even SWO's) and gives us the exact numbers that the Navy needs to bring in for the current FY to offset the losses of the last FY (and projected losses) from attrition, retiremnents, and other avenues. It is tied to a budget, but that is not what holds it up. The budget was voted on earlier for this FY execution. What holds it up is everyone wanting thier slice of the pie and all of the players agreeing to the final numbers. Sorry...way more than you probably wanted, but I keep referring to the accession plan so I figured I might as well define it :-) Hopet his helps, Ciao Ciao LT, NC, USN
  2. vinstafa...the board is not seperate for different sub-specialties (critical care, periop, ER, etc.) it is one board and meets for both Active and Reserve at the same time concerning any and all of the kits we had ready to go to the board before the deadline. The board is something I will tend not to discuss on these posts. I have to save something for the recruiters :-) I will correct anything I see that may be grossly misleading, but for now your recruiter is the best POC (point of contact...you should start using acronyms frequently). Totally does not hurt to ask! Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  3. ADCo2, Please send me your last name via a message, or this if you dont mind. I will reach out to your recruiter and find out why you have not been notified of a decision. Hope this helps. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  4. misstiko07...hello and Congratulations!! Check back with your recruiter. That type of information I would like not to post to confuse anyone about the way ahead. If I see confusing information being promulgated I will pop back in and try to untangle things, but for now your recruiter will have the answer. Hope this helps, and look forward to working with you in the future. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  5. RNsRWe, Thank you for the note, but the threads were exactly the point they needed to be. Each thread speaks to a specific genre and there are too many threads that confuse all of the different aspects. The goal is to answer very specific questions and not to continue to confuse anyone. Hope this helps explains the reason and thank you. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  6. vinstafa...Hello and sorry for the delay. Those numbers have not been finalized for FY15. Your recruiters will always here from us first, but I will be on here shortly after and provide some updates. At this time we do not know when we will know the exact number of quotas, but it is VERY safe for me to say that no number over 10 has been spoken. It may be less, but it will not be more. I know this seems cryptic, but we are fluid until we have paper instructions to set us in stone. Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have other questions. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  7. Hello to all and sorry for the absence. PLEASE NOTE that this thread only refers to the Reserve side of the Nurse Corps. The Active side is addressed in a seperate thread. At this time the only sub-specialties (SSC's) we are accepting applications for during FY15 are: 1922 Pediatric, 1950 Perioperative, 1972 Anesthesia, 1974 Pediatric NP, and 1981 Midwife. All other SSC's are closed for FY15 and applications will only be accepted for FY16 when we open the FY and there are available quotas. The November board will meet sometime during the later part of the month. The recruiters should recieve results during the first week of December. The recruiters will reach out to those at the current board when they have information. Enjoy the upcoming Holidays, and please let me know if you have any Reserve questions. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  8. Hello to all and so sorry for the long absence. PLEASE NOTE this only refers to Direct Accession. I will address Reserves in a seperate post. The only current openings that remain are for the subspecialties of 1972 CRNA, 1981 Midwife, and 1920 Labor and Delivery. Critical Care 1960 should be closing very soon. If you have not yet started a kit you will not be eligible for this year. If you think your kit should be submitted soon, then I urge you to engage your recruiter because once we close this SSC we will not open it again until FY16. All other SSC's are closed for direct accession and will not be accepted until FY16 if we recieve quotas to allow accessions to be considered. The current board will meet later this month and results will be put out to the recruiters sometime during the first week of December. Please know that all times and dates are subject to change, so be flexible. Your recruiters will let you know as soon as we give them the information. Good Luck to all who are at the November board, and if there are any of you out there who fit the open SSC's listed above, please reach out to a recruiter in your area if you desire information. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  9. The results of the FY16 Board have been released and communicated to all of the recruiters concerning all of the applications that made it to the board. There was a HIGHLY competative group and everyone submitted was of high caliber. Your recruiters should have already communicated your selection status to you, and if not I urge you to call them immediately to gain an answer. For those selected Congratulations! Please work with your recruiters to ensure that there are no remaining pieces of paperwork that may be needed. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  10. As4Awesome, The only recruiting at this time for NP is for the Reserve side, and is is specifically for PNP, MHNP, and Midwife. We are not recruiting outside of these areas in the Practitioner field at this time for the Nurse Corps. This may change in the future, but for FY15 this is absolute. Hope this helps and have a wonderful day. Ciao Ciao, LT, USN, NC
  11. Hello TeleJenny! First, thank you for the well wishes…it was the GRE and it went completely fine (despite the stressing). I will NEVER be taking or talking about it again though…not my personal cup of tea :-) In San Diego I have some recruiters I can put you in touch with. I need to ask though…did you do the America's Navyâ„¢ : Navy.com "find a recruiter" route? I need the name of the recruiter it gave you and the number so that I can rectify any comms issues. If you haven't done that just yet, I know its a pain, please go on and work through that first. Your second bet is to call the NRD San Diego. Once all of these options fail I can step in, but I prefer to let the system work for me first. Again, be prepared to give me names and numbers so I have specific information to work with and get issues resolved. Hope this helps, and enjoy your day. Ciao Ciao, LT, USN, NC
  12. mrslizgraham, I hope this finds you well. GPA for the Direct commission route has no minimum requirement, but generally if your cumulative GPA is on the lower side then you should get some work experience under your belt prior to applying. Yes you need to have taken and passed the NCLEX prior to applying as you will not be eligible until the FY16 year opens next October 2015. Hope this helps, but if you have more questions please post to my thread and I will answer as much as I can. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  13. vinstafa, hello and Good evening. Please refer to the OPNAV 1120.7a (I frequently refer to this) as it is the governing instruction over your questions. In short, the MSN must be from a CCNE or ACEN accredited institution that must have been accredited while you attended and graduated. The MBA would be geared more towards an MSC (Health Care Admin) not a NC specialty, so it would be case by case. Only the board grants credit, and they are seasoned CAPT's that take the instruction into careful consideration before awarding credit. Hope this answers the question. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  14. Joker269MPCO, Hello and I hope this finds you well. At this time the Navy is not offering any assistance to reserve applicants still in graduate school. We are using the funding as a retention tool at this time. It may be available sometime again in the future, but right now we are focusing on those who have already obtained degrees for the reserves. For active we would send you to school, but that is a program called DUINS, and you are not eligible to apply until after your initial commitment is completed. In your case it does not sound as if it would help since you are getting ready to begin already. The above answers are for NAVY only, and if I confused you at all please let me know. Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
  15. Hello to All, I am the current Program Manager, and there is a lot of confusion on this thread so I am going to try and clear up some of it, but I also am going to be very general to encompass what I can. If you have specific questions please post them to either Chief or myself (NavyNurseCorpsPM1) and we will both do our best. MOST IMPORTANT: NCP applications are open for 2 year groups - FY16 and FY17. Next year they will be open for FY17 and FY18 and so on through the years. We open the applications to be submitted beginning August 1 of the current year. Your application should not be started at that time, but finished. They are accepted for approximately 6 weeks and then we close the board. Results will not be out until sometime in November and it will fill FY16 and FY17 quotas for this Fiscal year only. FY16 - A Nursing student who graduates from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016 FY17 - A Nursing student who graduates from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017 Next year we will look for FY17 and FY18 so just move the grad years forward. Please know that these dates can all be quite confusing, so please have faith. The recruiters all do a tremendous job, but we give them about 50 different dates and deadlines to work with. Thank you to all of my recruiters, and to all of you applying to NCP best of luck!! Ciao Ciao, LT, NC, USN
