yes hon, that's a lot of money! What about community college or a tech school? My tuition is less than $6000 and pays for everything, including books and all supplies.

I thought my tuition was high at $21,000 for the LPN program. I'm in southwest Ohio.

thanks everyone.....this is all so confusing. should i just go back to school then apply to nursing school?

OH my goodness. I think that is EXTREMELY high. I will pay probably less than half of that to be an RN.

I am going to go to American Career College in October and their 12 month program is $30,000.

That's way too much! I paid around 2500 for my RN.

Private schools are really expensive. The one I went to was around $21,000, I think , I was there on retrain contract through unemployment so I was lucky and only had to pay out of pocket ecxept for shoes and personal things. I went there in 2005 and last I heard it was over $25,000. I was looking into a private RN program and they are in $50,000 to $60,000 range.

$30,000 sounds about the normal for a private lpn/lvn school here in LA. Most of the people who have reported very low tuition rate are going to either subsidized schools or live in areas where the expenses in running a school are low. Just because a school is expensive does not mean its not accredited btw. You should check.

The private school that I will be attending is 6000 for everything, that even includes uniforms...I would hate to know that I had to pay 31,000 for the LVN program.

Check that school out! That is a lot of money. I am going to a private school with a good reputation, and my tuition was $20,000.00 which I thought was really high (when you consider most vocational schools run anywhere from 5 to 10 thousand)

But be aware, be very aware, schools are popping up all over the place. Here in NJ there is a moratorium on any more schools starting nursing programs. With the shortage of nuses, schools are looking to cash in.

Keep looking, that is way too much even for an RN program!

Good luck!

I paid around the same for my LVN program that I am currently attending. Yes, of course its too much for program but I like that it was 11 months and my options were very slim. I figure it would be a good steppng stone in my journey to a Nurse practioner level and that sometimes you gotta make with what you have, and for my area, a $33,000 tuition nursing program was what i chose to be the best option for me. It's obviously not for everybody.

Good luck with it all.

That's ridiculous. My tutition is $22000 because its at a private school and no wait lists and THAT is wayy too much but I don't want to sit around waiting 2 years before I can get in at the University. 31,000? sheesh.
