I suggest you look at cities rather than states. In general, you'll find that all the glamorous cities or vacation cities don't need staff. I'm in El Paso TX. Lots of jobs here, but then it's not a glamorous vacation spot. El Paso is one of the safest cities in the country, but many people think it's not safe because of across the Rio Grande is Ciudad Juarez, one of the most dangeous cities in the world.

Check out the towns in New Mexico other than Santa Fe (too expensive to live there).

Also beware of places that offer big rewards to get people to work there. There's usually a good reason nobody wants to work there. Many places will help you move, may even have sign on bonuses, but you have to ask. If they ask you to sign a contract, read it carefully. They aren't writing the contract to be in your best interest. Also think about what climate you prefer. Congratulations on becoming a nurse, and good luck.

I too live in Cali. Though it will break my heart to leave, I am thinking of moving out of state as well. There are no jobs in Cali. Unless you really know someone or really have your foot in somewhere. My family lives in El Paso and nursing jobs are booming out there, even for new grads. They are even building a new nursing school to meet the demands for nursing. It's because of the population explosion and Ft. Bliss, they need more nurses.

I live in San Diego and been looking at nearby counties as well. Good luck for both of us in job hunting.

Waiting is really the crucial moment in looking for jobs because this will really test our patience and determination. I don't even know if is it my resume that needs improvement or the employment here in California is that really bad. :crying2: Either way, i'm still hopeful. Hope I could land a job from other states that would sponsor me in moving :)

I also live in the San Diego area, I have been applying for jobs since last October, with nothing... I'm totally bummed. I really can't just pick up and move because I do have a family. If we moved out of state my husband would have to re-test for his job. I'm at a loss and stuck!
