Tweety that has indeed been a long time to be sick

Hi Ado and Stars

Yesterday was a quieter day.  Did some meal prep and went to church a bit early to usher.  Came home and did the cooking for the week and baked muffins

Was running low on milk so went to one store, was told they had lost power.  So I went to another store in a different suburb a few miles away...and was told they had lost power too.  Finally found a third store that did have power.  Odd

Exercised and worked with my friend B to figure out what we're doing next Sunday.  Was thinking about doing laundry early but decided not to rush things.  Stopped with the puzzle because I realized I wasn't enjoying it

Today should be pretty normal, nothing unexpected at work, will do the usual laundry and exercise

Cooler today, in the low 70s, less humid than it has been too

Good morning!

Joe, hope that work is kind to you today.

I went to the store and got a bunch of stuff except for the chickpeas which was one of my main reasons for going as I was craving chickpea sandwiches (smash the chickpeas and then make it like you would a tuna salad..mayo, pickles, onions, etc.).  DOH

Yep this intestinal stuff is a bummer.  I had a good day Saturday and was all hopeful and symptoms came back yesterday and was crushed.  Anyway, I have one more antibiotic this afternoon and well see how it goes.  Follow up with GI was post pond a week because they scheduled it on a day I'm at work and I can't guarantee I'll be free.

I felt good enough to go to hot yoga for the first time in about a month.  I did good except for one pose I fell out of because of my bad knee.  I didn't think I could do it but tested the waters anyway.

Going to take Waffles for her follow up with the doggie ophthalmologist.  Hopefully the infection in her eye is better and won't need more treatment.

Bowling starts up tonight and I'm looking forward to that.  Hope my bad knee handles it but we'll see.

I have been up for several hours, but had to wait for my laptop to charge;  I usually plug it in at night, but last night I forgot.

I am pleased to announce that for the 3rd week IN-A-ROW (!) my checkbook was balanced with the banks records. w00t! ?

Now I have to go out and do errands: the bank, the post office, and the grocery store. Then it'll be time to do the Nannie-Run. I used to have a private duty patient who wanted me to take her and the dogs (2 German Shephards/Shepherds? < how is that spelled? I can't remember!) well, anyway, we would go to the Country Club and let the dogs out of the big'ol Caddiddalliac and I would drive slowly as they ran after the car. That was how she exercised them! But I guess Nannie wouldn't enjoy a Nannie-Run of that kind of exercise. Gosh, she's no fun!

Tinker gets cuter by the day, but Nannie still thinks she is a boy, because she isn't fluffy, curly, or dainty. But, Tinker is feeling really more of herself now.....she chases after thrown toys (well, 50% of the time, but it was zero before) and plays a little tug-of-war with the blue, fuzzy, squeak-dog, AND, she actually allowed me to cradle her in my arms with her belly up, just like holding a (hairy) baby! I am amazed, but it is REALLY so nice to see her being so comfortable here now!

Gotta go! Everyone get well, be well, and well.....have a good'n!

Hello all!

Tweety, w00t that bowling is starting up!  I look forward to hearing about it!  I hope your GI issues are soon gone.    I went to the store yesterday for items to make soup, and while there (I was hungry!) got a few things to make veggie-burgers , but forgot to get the canned gluten "meat" -- the basis of the burgers!  Oh well, I also didn't get an herb combo ingredient either (couldn't find it - ordered it from Amazon).  As soon as I get all the ingredients, I will make some.   The recipe came from a friend's mom; he says he has had this, made by his mom, for 40 years.  He doesn't know where she got the recipe.  I love to see your recipes, what you are making (though many of them are too spicy for me!).

No Stars, doggers are so cute!  We love our cats, too!  I hope you have a good, Nannie-less day!

Yesterday morning I changed the linens, and then in the afternoon we drove up to Oak Glen for a hymn sing from 2-4.  Dh played banjo, fiddler was the pianist, and I played guitar and sang along.  We use donated Baptist hymnals, though any hymnal with familiar songs would do!  Many churches these days utilize praise teams and a huge screen rather than the hymnals -- thus the donated hymnals.  Attendance fluctuated, but at one point we had 50 or 60 in the little room!  Towards four o'clock, though, that number had waned to probably 25 or so.  It was a lot of fun!  I did some exercising later in the evening.

Back to the hymnals -- I do miss singing with a hymnal, when I'm in a church that only uses a large screen to project words.  If I don't know the song (and I don't know a lot of praise songs), there is no reference for me, for the melody line.  Using a hymnal, I could at least partly (I'm not really proficient at sight-reading but can get by) read the notes and how long to hold each one.  But I'm not complaining, mind you!  It's just an observation and a preference.

Youngest ds sent photos of Niagara Falls, as they stopped there while driving in that area for a concert.  That's a whole lotta water, that is!

Have a good afternoon/evening!

Joe, I admire your ability to realize you're not enjoying something and therefore stop doing it. I tend to obsess over things and make myself do/complete them even if they're not satisfying.

I think I saw a chickpea sandwich on a menu somewhere recently. Apparently I made a different choice, since I remember little about it. Maybe it was when I was out to eat with stepson. We went to a cute little place and I think I ended up with a chicken sandwich of some sort.

Glad Tinker is settling in. Our kitties play and roughhouse a bit. It's all fun and games until someone actually gets a claw in.

I'm glad our church still uses hymnals most of the time. If it's an unfamiliar hymn I can read the music and get a pretty good sense of the tune. And I like to sing the alto line sometimes. I can't harmonize by ear but I can read what's written. Anyway, it sounds like you had a good turnout for the hymn sing.

Ah.  Most of my singing/our playing is by ear.  I can somewhat read music, so that it is helpful if I don't know the piece.

I tried a new "crack slaw" recipe, one with more flavors than my previous recipe.  This one called for some sriracha, white vinegar, soy sauce, a dab of sweetener, S&P, and sauteed garlic.  I added mushrooms and yellow squash, and a squeeze of ginger paste.  Used chopped green onions -- sauteed the white before adding the rest of the ingredients, and then added the chopped green parts at the very end.  Dh tried it, said it had good flavor.  Then I made the usual chicken tomatillo soup.  We will freeze most of these, and enjoy in the evenings.

Not much else going on today!  I wanted to add, since I sing by ear, most of any harmonizing I do is by ear: alto or baritone part.  The baritone part is fun on a lot of songs.  Unfortunately, I will often zig-zag between alto and baritone parts!  If the band is arranging a song, I have to pick a part and really stick to it!  No lolly-gagging!

Later!

Hullo. I've done nothing but sit most of the day, and yet, I'm tired. I got up early enough to get the doggos a walk while it was still only 70, then fueled the car, got it washed, then picked up sis for her cardiology appointment. Well, only part of the car got washed, because I had the bike rack on, and it couldn't go through the mechanical wash. The worker sprayed the front with detergent and then rinsed well, so the front half is clean(er).

The cardiology appointment was interesting. Sis has a genetic abnormality  that can cause muscle weakness so she is going to see yet another specialist. She can't only walk short distances due to vertigo and burning in her leg muscles, and struggles to lift her arms above her head. I am skeptical that anything can be done, but I will get her to the appointment and support her. It was offered last year, but (she says) she would told it would take several visits and she refused due to the 3 hr round trip travel time.

The I got home in time for an online meeting for a Master Gardeners committee. I don't think I am committed to anything tomorrow, so I am going to try a new recipe for pear feta rosemary muffins. Eldest ds gifted us some pears from his tree so I am going to try a treat to share with the gardening group. I hope tomorrow is cooler than today's 88.
