Good morning.

Safe travels Ado.  That's so aggravating. I would say 90% of people I hear of traveling have problems.  With me it's 100% of the time.

I've been doing some meal prep this morning.  Mostly veggie side dishes.  I love Korean cucumber salad and that's easy to make.  Will make a carrot salad as well.  Otherwise will be a mundane type of day.  That's okay.

For some strange reason I have been unable to access my account, and have been unable to post here for the past several hours. I finally was able to get onto a place to send sirI a post, and immediately after that I came back here, and LO and BEHOLD, my ability to post something seems to have been returned to me. Whew!

So, Tweety, it's okay for you to comment on my troubles and foibles. You are kind of a touchstone to the realities of the situation. [And yes, I am angry, disgusted, and fed up, but still resistant about the idea of taking over all his responsibilities for him.]

So, hubby said he did contact the doc's office.....but come to find out it was only about the need for the doc to send in refill orders to the pharmacy. (Specifically his Xanax!) 

When I got up, he had to go upstairs and lay down in his bed. Huh! I will have to set my alarm clock tomorrow to wake up early enough to sit down with him and draw up a list of phone calls that he, as his mom's POA, absolutely needs to make, to get things rolling. I also have to ask him again  if he REALLY is serious and wants to address his addiction, or not. Put up or shut up. And regardless of his answer, he definitely needs to call the financial guy, about his mother's $$$ so he can start the decision of placing her somewhere. There is no magic wand or fairy-godmother who will swoop in to take care of things. Regardless of anything, he also needs to get an appt w/  his doc ....or a doc who specializes in alcohol addiction and detox. There isn't anything a doctor can do if he isn't willing to focus on his health problems.

Nannie is still asleep in her bed and we are letting her get in all the Zzzz's her body seems to want her to do.

I know you're resistant but remember your post yesterday when he told you that he would make the phone calls today? What did he do?

You're kind of like Charlie Brown forever hopeful that Lucy won't snatch the football away and make him fall and he tries over and over again and each time turns around and gets mad at her.   I understand that there are only things he can do but sooner or later the anger and disappointment of counting and waiting on him (what?  two or more years now you two have talked about placing her?)  might lead you to a time to poop or get off the pot.  (To borrow and expression from my mother).

I know that ultimatums (ultimata?) aren't very effective with addicted folks, but I'd be inclined to say if Mr. Stars can't/won't get sober then his mother needs to be somewhere that she can be taken care of without involving you. 

This trip has become a nightmare. I guess I'm usually pretty lucky, Tweety, and have only minor inconveniences. I left home 27 hours ago and haven't made it to my destination yet. Yes, my 6am flight was delayed and I *ran* through LaGuardia to try to make the connection but didn't. There was a lot of agony in between as I tried various things and then I booked a flight from JFK to Burlington at 10 pm. Took an $80 Uber from LaGuardia to JFK. I wore flip-flops for comfort and ease and now my feet are aching. And going through security at this airport I stepped on something sharp when I removed my shoes and made my heel bleed. The flights have been cold, even with a jacket, and I want so badly to wrap up in a blanket and put my feet up. Blah!

So, my plan for Tuesday morning is to set my alarm clock and make hubby ["Lucy"]  make the call to the guy about Nannie's financials. I will sit on top of him until he does.

Seriously, I did reply to your outreach to me, but I didn't do anything to get you back on. It had to be a temporary glitch in the system. Glad you are back on. Hopefully, it's all resolved.

Yes Stars.  Time to play hardball and not expect something that isn't going to happen.  

Ado sorry about the travel woos and I do have the worst travel karma of anyone I know.  I've been stuck in Key West due to fog.  I've been stuck waiting for a plane to get de-iced in Minnesota.  I've been stuck on a plane because the walkway that reaches out the to plane was broke and we had to wait to taxi to another gate.  I've been stuck on a plane taking off because the phone for the pilot to reach the flight attendants in the back was broke.  I've had to have a plane turn around on the runway because of a volcanic eruption in Costa Rica where we were headed.  I've missed connections by mere minutes because the flight was late taking off.  I've lost luggage a couple of times.  On and on and on.  But yet I persist like Charlie Brown.

It's hot and sticky here, but finally starting to cool off. I did 3 hours of volunteering at the fair, for the Master Gardeners. I had a very nice lady ask me to identify the new weed she has coming up. All she could say is it had white flowers, did I know what it was? Wasn't sure about the size, what the flowers or the leaves looked like. Hmmm. And one fellow informed me that Biden wants to take gardens away. Oh. The best part was giving away stickers with bugs on them to the kids. I grabbed a fresh strawberry milkshake on my way out, and walked past all of the delicious, greasy deep-fried fair food. Sigh.  

I've never had a volcano interrupt a flight, but I've most of the others, plus fogged in/out at least twice. Someone took my bag once, but it was returned to the airport, and I got it back a few days later, luckily at the end of my trip.
