My mother experienced Migrains and I do too. Funny thing is that mine didn't begin until I was in my first pregnancy at age 19. Had em ever since. They were severe at first and I used to lay in bed all day and miss work. I think they are triggered by stress and eating the wrong thing. Since I eat better they are not as intense nor last as long :) NOthing to miss work over either. Sometimes I can just sit it out. Just can't drive until the flashing lights are gone and I can see better.

I've had migraines since I was in second grade. I had one bad enough that I was standing in line at school, waiting for the teacher to take us to the busses and I passed out. I think I was sick for 2 days. Mom took me to the doctor but he didn't want to do anything for me since I was so young. At that time there wasn't any migraine meds. By the seventh grade I was having them weekly with vomiting. I was sent to a neurologist to have my head examined. CT showed nothing. He prescribed a seizure drug - can't remember the name although it's commonly used. That helped and I also started taking Midrin. Headaches went away after that and I went off my meds. Probably 3 years ago they have started again. They tend to be stress related and Midrin and no other prescription meds work for me. I have one about once a month and I have just learned to deal.

I was having up to two migraines a month, before I quit that pressure cooker job I was working in. Now I am having one migraine every other month, maybe less. I have a prescription for injectable Imitrex, but don't use it as by the time I wake up with these headaches, they are too far gone for it to be effective,

Had such severe migraines found out I was hypertensive , the medication cleared most of the migraine's. Maybe check your blood pressure! lol.
