does anyone have any suggestions for a good microbiology study guide? i work as a cna while in nursing school and just don't have the time to read the chapters.

I take my texts to work with me (I'm a CNA, too) and study in my breaks.

It seems a bad idea to rely on a study guide and not do the reading.

As for the study guide I would ask your course professor/TA they will know which one reflects the material best. I shouldn't tell them you don't have time to do the reading. That would probably go down like a lead balloon.

What are you going to do when you are taking the nursing courses? Only read the study guide?

I will not be working after this semester, so looking for a study guide for micro is really just a short term resource I need. I really just need more time out of my schedule, which I just don't have. When I don't go to work I am catching up on projects or assignments or am studying for other classes. If I'm not doing that I am sleeping since I only sleep an average of 5 nights a week @ 6 hours each, I am very sleep deprived and showing it. If I could sit and read the material, I would.

It really depends on your class. Some are totally doable with out reading chapters. in my micro class last semester our text book was optional. professor had been teaching for over 20 years and had very well developed lectures. a nice recorder for class could help. Then you can review lecture in the car or on breaks. Unless the study guide is from the text book you are using, it might not be very helpful. Another option if you can make some time. some textbooks have companion sites maybe yours does and you can find chapter outlines, worth looking into. My time saver was to make studying portable. flash cards, 1/2 sized notebooks, etc. so at any given time I had study material on me. You never know when you will get somewhere and score an extra chunk of study time.

and yes reading chapters may be ideal, but I understand the constraints of time, work, and family. We do what we can. ;-)

Study guides is not a good look at all. Your class is probably over now but, next time ask your professor if he have study guides. Or read the summary pages at the end of each chapter and answer the questions in the back if you can't read each page. Or even skimming and noting important terms is better then a study guuide.

Also go to youtube and look up daggerbiology. He has good videos for microbiology on there.
