Messed up

Hi..please no judgement I am sick obout this. I am a nurse in KNAP and am going to test positive for alcohol and opiate. I have a script for the Opiate from my dentist for a bad tooth, but it's not listed on my meds through KNAP. I've already lost everything once, one would think I would have learned. I have severed anxiety related to PTSD from a sexual assault. I'm going to AA/NA again and searching for a therapist. Has anyone been through this? just wondering if they are going to revoke my license or will start my contract over. I was given a second chance and I completely blew it. It was hard to post this, just desperately searching for advice and support. I feel completely alone

    I'm sorry, I don't have any answers for you but I just wanted to say I know how your feeling and I've done just about the same thing. But don't beat yourself up about it too much, just keep trying... that's all we can do.

    Relapse is a part of recovery sometimes. You'll be alright they may extend ur contract or maybe mandate more drug tests or possibly go back to treatment...

    First let me say that I'm very sorry that you are going to have problems as the result of this drug test. Relapse is part of recovery in the regular world without severe financial and career repercussions. However, in our world (from what I understand) it leads to a whole world of problems. It seems your only choice is to self-report and weigh your options. If your nursing career is important enough to your life and in fact you want to agree to be sober for the next number of years by all means persevere. If not choose a new career and get on with your life. I honestly don't know what I'd do in your situation with respect to nursing. Believe me that the thought crosses my mind all the time about failing a drug & alcohol test either via relapse or ingesting something that I didn't know all the ingredients to. My prayers are with you and hope for the best
