Hi
I am going to start WGUs BSN program this summer and have heard horror stories of some mentors....how can you recommend one if you can not receive PMs on here? My email is [email protected] if anyone can please send me mentor recommendations I would appreciate it! I would hate to get one that makes my program longer than necessary =)
thanks so much

The mentors don't really do anything except talk to you and keep you motivated. Their only purpose is to keep you grounded and set realistic expectations and keep you motivated since you will be working from home. By in large, the learning is self directed and contact with mentors is a formality.

From my personal observation, the BSN program mentors seem a lot more flexible than the MSN ones. Hopefully you'll get a good one. Their job is to make sure you make "on time progress" and not fail out.

Not a fan of my mentor. While she's always polite, I have a lot of hurdles that other people do not seem to have and she always gives me things to do that are unnecessary. It seems like the mentors are getting tighter on everyone. I've considered requesting a new one.

Not all mentors are created equal. There are indeed some who will do anything to slow you down. I've been very disappointed.

I started April 1, and my student mentor has not tried to slow me down at all. She is supportive and less me do courses in the order I want, and when take a practice test and pass it, she gets the score, opens the final exam (objective assessment) for me immediately and doesn't give me any extra tasks or assignments, etc. PM me if you want her name. She always asks me what I'm working on, how that's going, if I am having any problems, is there anything I need help with, and offers encouragement. I can email her between weekly calls if I want something. I work full time so emailing is my preferred communication, but the weekly calls are completed in about 15 minutes or less unless I make them longer. I completed statistics and care of the older adult last week. No obstacles except those I place myself.
Hi can you email me her name please? I can't PM yet í ½í±Ž [email protected]
thanks so much!

Is it possible to request a certain type of mentor after applying and being accepted? For example, I would like a mentor who is totally fine with me striving to complete the BSN program in one term and won't try to convince me to take my time or give me extra work. Can you ask for someone in particular if you have their name, or if you don't know someone specifically, could I say I want someone who's on board with me being fast through the program?
