Did anyone apply to th enursing program at miami-dade? Have you gotten a response yet?

I applied to mdc for the lpn program on May 1st still havent heard from them yet takes about 2 months to get the letter in the mail. They told me they will be mailing out the letters at the end of June and start of July. Painfull to have to wait that long to know if you made it or not. Well good luck to you and take care.

I was just wondering if any one knows what the average GPA to get into the nursing generic program at MDC? I have a 3.25 and I don't know if that is good enough? Can some one please help me stop being so stressed out about this!

Did you finish your AA in Pre-Nursing before applying for the program??

Well, I have finished all of the prereqs for the program and I have to tak like 2 other classes for the co-reqs to graduate from the college. Right now I am taking Chm1033 with the lab and PHI2604. I will be done with them in a couple of weeks. My GPA will probably go up a little bit though.

Usually MDC sends out acceptance letter middle of June. So those who applied for Fall should be getting a response in the mail soon. Good luck!

Hi jae82301,

I got my accpetance letter about a week and a half ago. I have been going crazy with all the forms and stuff. Has any one heard about the orientation?

I wish everyone luck that applied and look forward to meeting everyone in the fall!

Hi CV2RN, Congratulations for getting into the MDC Nursing Program. Consider yourself blessed because out of the 2k that applied you got accepted.

I'm currently on my 3rd semester, Full Time Generic. So far I'm enjoying every inch of it. Including the stress btw :) I don't know what information you need. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck!

thats so exciting. im in the process of finishing my pre-req's right now ill be done in the fall.

what was your gpa other stuff did u have that made you a good candidate for the program. id like a little heads up--just incase i need to work on anything hehe ;)

It's that time of the year again. I applied for the fall 2008 term. The generic program. I hear it is highly competative, but I have heard of even more competative programs. GPA is the only factor they take into consideration.

Still it makes me nervous to think I will not be able to get into the program. I am hoping I made it. I don't see me doing anything else in my life. I see myself as a nurse.

Good luck. I am in between my 2nd and 3rd semesters. I start back at it next week.

Yes the selection process is strictly GPA. Rumor has it, this may change in years to come. I the past, it was thought that students with a high GPA had a higher chance of success in nursing school. They have been finding that this is not the case. Comparing nursing school to pre-reqs is like comparing apples and oranges.

If you have all your required pre-reqs complete with a GPA of at least a 3.51...you should be in. That has tended to be the pattern....no guarantees...it all depends on the current "crop" of applicants.

If you get a letter telling you that you need to attend a "mandatory" information session...you are in the top of the selection group. The information session is about the various scholars programs that you may be eligible for. To get the invite to the "mandatory information session" you would have qualified for the scholars program.

When I was admitted into the Fall 2007 class, our information session was in the beginning of June. Actual admissions letters went out right at the end of June.

The wait kind gets old....and there really isn't anyone at the school to call for any information. The receptionist for the school of nursing isn't kept in the loop...well she is usually clueless about everything.

Anyhow, I hope this helps. Good luck. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.
