Let me start off by saying that I went through my LVN program WHILE I was in high school. I began the summer after my sophomore year in high school and finished the summer after my senior year in high school. It took me two years and it was extremely hard to juggle both.
I took my NCLEX Monday and found out that I passed today (Thank you quick results)!
As a gift to myself for the hard work and dedication that I put in to my education, I want to buy myself the newest MacBook Pro (Money isn't an object with this-so it's really not a factor). The only concern that I have with this is that I'm going to be attending Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas (Pre-Nursing and then BSN program) and from previous personal experience, a lot of CD's came with my textbooks for studying purposes.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is did anyone use a MacBook Pro during college/nursing programs and have any problems with compatibility? Or any problems just in general?
Thanks so much!(:

Macbooks and the operating system has become pretty popular with schools in general. Most textbooks CDs you buy are now mac compatible. I personally do not have a mac but many of my classmates in our BSN program do. All the CD I've had are dual compatible. Some textbook are eliminating the whole CD thing and going to the cloud for additional information and student resources. This eliminates compatibility issues with CDs and different operating systems. For example a lot of nursing schools now use Elsevier books and most of their content are now online as well.

Lovelovelove my MacBook Air. It doesn't have a slot for CDs but I don't miss it one bit. It's light, I got it maximally tanked with extra RAM, and it's cheaper than it was last year. :)
If they insist on using CD-based media, as opposed to getting stuff off the Cloud, you can get a disk reader or get someone to let you copy your disk onto a thumb drive, download it all into the MacBookAir or your own Cloud storage (I use DropBox), and there you are.
I forgot apple is phasing out CD drives.

I have a MacBook Pro and have no problems with compatibility in my nursing program. I know people like the Air, but I had some CDs I wanted to use, so the MacBook Pro was perfect. I'm loving the cloud, too.
