Okay I'm deciding whether I should do an LVN program or an RN. The LVN program I'm interested in is requiring a TEAS test score, A&P and a handwritten essay. The RN program has no requirements beside high school diploma/GED and an entrance exam, however it is way way more expensive.

You need to do more research. The two are world's apart

If the RN program that you are considering only requires a HS diploma/GED and a passing entrance exam score, I conclude it is at an investor-owned school of poor repute.

Getting into nursing school is not easy, as The Commuter said sounds like you are looking at a for profit school . Continue your research. Start by looking for jobs , would you be able to get a position as an LVN? And what is difference in salary between the two?

As a new graduate nurse who just started working, I would highly advise you find a legitimate nursing school , be it LVN or RN . The RN school does not sound reputable and it's too expensive. Please research the job availability and PAY for both LVN and RN in your area. Based on my paychecks , I 'm very happy that I do not have any student loans. Apply to legitimate nursing school in your area and do the course work that is required.
One more thought...I assume you are located either in CA or TX. The LVN employment market is horrid in most parts of CA, and the ADN (associate degree RN) market is also dismal there. California has been a BSN-preferred market for years. Buyer beware...
