LS1

Hi to All,

What are you using to study for LS1 and how are you studying?. I have seen individuals post that they got A's which is a fantastic grade. I am scheduled for testing on LS 4/1/11.

I went through the outline EC provides and I mostly use the Saunders because I like the layout. I also have LisaArends and SG101 notes, but I just skim over those. As a mom to 2 kids (9 and 2), wife and work full time, I start studying when everyone goes to sleep until about 2am each night. On weekends I try to sleep and read more in the day instead. Needless to say- Im exhausted!! lol But it's all worth it in the near end! I make 60s/70s on my practice exams... I have all B's and 1 C. What are you using to study with??

I am using EC practice exam /lisa arends/SG101. This exam for sure has me spooked especially the cancer section.

I agree!! From all the posts I have read-- I am pretty nervous compared to normal!!

I used the Med/Surg text for this one as well as the Saunders to review. To be honest w/you, I was the most worried about the abnormal cell section also, but I thought the cancer section was the easiest on the actual test. Alot of care planning and interventions. The questions (atleast the ones I got) regarding the cardiac and respiratory systems were much more complex and in depth with like disease process and such.

Don't be nervous. Take your time and read what they are asking you. Alot of times on the practice tests I find myself getting the question wrong and when I review it it said something like "except, requires further instruction..." and I'm like DUH! LOL. The Life Span tests are more NCLEX like. Remove two options from the answers right away.... and remember that while you are taking the test and get stuck on a question...go back to the good old BLS... ABC's (and when they change this in June, it's going to really upset me, LOL!!)

Review your meds and lab values more in depth for this. You will be fine :-)

what are they changing in june?! although i sure hope to be done with all my exams by june, nclex likely won't be! i hate change :p i only heard of fcca going computer, but no other changes! all the more reason to hit the books....

i took ls1 almost 2 weeks ago, and agree straight up with beachnurse; lab values, diseases and interventions. i love my saunders nclex review book also. good luck! i hope to do ls2 4/1/2011.

Oh, Loops the AHA is changing the core of Basic Life Support in June.... I just renewed my ACLS and my instructors said that come June they are changing the principle of BLS from Airway, Breathing Circulation "ABC" to Circulation, Airway, Breathing "CAB"... it's going to mess w/my head LOL... airway is always my fall back answer!

Good luck on LS2! Let me know how it is! You will do great :-)

Oh, UGH!! To reverse the order of my thinking, and getting so close to NCLEX too  Oh man, to think how much of that is priority nursing for us, this won't be an easy transition!
