LPN to RN??

Immediately, and pay depends a LOT on where you are.

i agree with the above poster but, unless you need to work right away, why not just go straight for you rn? lpn is a great option if you need to work right away and going through a 3-4 yr rn program isn't an option financially. also lpn's do get a great amount of experience but, my recommendation to you (if you want to be an rn asap) is to go straight for your rn. don't stop at lpn.

The only reason I was thinking of the LPN to RN was just in case I am not accepted to the RN program. I am definately going RN if I can be accepted, but if not I am considering LPN and then on to RN. Thanks!

I was a CNA for about 3 years, until I became an LPN -2years, and now I am starting the RN transition program May of 09', and then to eventually become a NP (Lord willing). I don't know your situation, but from my experience I have found that it's not only easier financially, but it has made Nursing a much more rewarding career! By working up the latter, I can relate to and really appreciate all my patients-especially all my co-workers. Even though things may not run smoothly everyday, I believe that it really dose take "teamwork" (no matter what your title is) to stomp out disease & ensure to keep a patient in good health. I always try to encourage my CNA's and fellow LPN's to

"keep moving on up."- cause in the end, it really is all about the patient. Geeez, sorry this is so long-just got off work :nuke:

Some schools require you to work one year and some don't. Getting into a RN school is difficult so I understand where you are coming from. You are smart for not having all your eggs in one basket. Also many doors open when you are a LPN already to bridge into a RN program. You can check http://www.salary.com for salaries in different parts of the country. Best of luck in your decisions!!!!
