lpn programs????

I ran into the same situation as you. Did my LVN first and dont regret it, I figured if I have to take more steps to reach my goal, so be it, at least I was taking steps. I had so many people tell me that doing the LVN program would be a waste of time and to just go straight through for my RN, if I had done that I would still be waiting, as a friend of mine is still on the waiting list, and she got on it when I started school for LVN. There is a waiting list also for the LVN to RN bridge program, but it's a shorter list, at least in my area it is.

My income has gone up and I'm in the nursing field while I wait for my number to come up. Any experience you can get whether it be CNA, LVN or RN is always valuable to have.

My first choice was to go straight through and get my RN, but sometimes we must make things happen and not wait for them to happen. Keep your goal in sight, there is always more than one way to reach it.

At least a 1/3 of my 90 person class are doing the same thing for the same reason.

ohhhh.... thank you so much that make me feel so much better!!!! my first choice was going strait through the RN program but like you said you have to make things happen sometimes. i am really excited about doing this LPN program. i cant wait....i am just looking forward to being in school and learning all these new things....thanks so much for the advice it helped me out a lot!!!!!!!

Go for it! I am doing the same thing right now. You will still be a nurse doing what you want to do. Things happen for a reason. Just think, you will be a much better RN with all the experience you will gain as an LPN. The money isn't bad either. You may even work for a company that will do tuition reimbursment for your RN.

hello.....im in first semester of college and the waitting list to get into the rn program at my school is ridiculous!!! so i really want to get into this lpn program that starts in november.... is this a good idea? then i would only have one more year of school to become an rn and i could be working as a lpn in the mean time! what do you think?

Hey, go for it, I got my LPN last december and I started my RN in august. I don't regret it because now I'm WORKING, getting experience while I'm in school, it's great.

I went to school for 4 years earned a BS and decide to do nursing. I applied and each time was on the waiting list. Lpn was the last thing on my mind. After waiting on the list for 2years I decided on lpn and got right into the program. This happen last year , I got my results from my test on 9/20/2005 on 09/22/2005 now I'm and lpn. Several people told me it was a waste of time , but I didn't listen now since i have graduated they say good job i knew you could do it. Long story short want ever u do people are going 2 talk do what makes you feel good...

Yep, I started the LPN program too after having to wait to get into the RN program...I had a 4.0 but with 900 people applying for 40 spots...well, you get the picture. I am finishing my LPN right now (11 more weeks!). Now, I can take a year off and then go for the LPN-RN program. NO regrets. Higher pay, I have a license after a year (wouldn't if I went into the RN program). Yeah, it's more work (a lot more :rolleyes: ), but I'll be a better nurse in the end. Good luck!

I truly think going for your LPN before your RN is a good idea. I'm just slowly working up the ladder, I have my CNA and I started my LPN classes this month and after that I'm bridging over to get my RN. It's a great plan simply because you can gain a ton of experience not to mention it will help pay for your training as a RN. Good luck!!! :specs:

I have been debating about taking a CNA course. I am on the backup list for LPN school and should start in January but I assume that if I took a CNA course now it would help me when going through LPN school. Does anyone have any advise?
