I am not an LPN yet...but will graduate from school the end of July, and I know the nursing home here starts them out at $19.38/hour for part-time or per diem w/o benefits.

It is when you work on an "as needed" basis.

I work in a Syracuse Hospital and they start LPN's out at $12.47 with a 20% shift diff for eve/ nights and weekends. And after 6 months you can become med-certified for $1 more. But I think they are also giving everyone a $1 raise in June.

Hope this helps.

The above is so depressing...considering I am scheduled to graduate this summer as a GPN.....I make that much as a CNA in Connecticut and I was planning on working in NY..

Hi everyone,

Its a pleasure to be a part of our little community.

I just graduated last june here in Seattle Wa, I started at 19.25, then moved to another job without benefits, 20.00/hr. Will this help. I work in a nursing facility. I think hospitals doesn't really pay LPNs what they deserve..did i make sense? Any idea about Maryland nursing homes? what's the starting pay?

Good luck to the incoming LPNs....

GPN is a Graduate Practical Nurse. That is the title one has before they become licensed. Some places hire GPNs, others don't. I was making $14.80 an hour nights in Rochester, but I elected for a non-benefited rate and so now I make $19 on weekday nights and $19.50 on Friday nights. I don't work Sat or Sun. This is a LTC facility with VERY low turnover. To eleviate any confusion, I am regular part time staff, I am not per diem.

working for long island facility making 21.20/hr, 19.97 with 1.15 evening dif
