LPN online bridge programs

I'm thinking about going online to get my RN, but have heard that some hospitals won't hire you if your degree online or may be prejudiced against online programs. Has anyone else heard this?

It is true that some hiring managers will toss your resume into file number 13 (a.k.a. the wastebasket) if they see certain online nursing programs listed. However, many other managers are accepting of online learning.

The main problem with the distance-based bridge programs is the fact that many state boards of nursing will not accept them for licensure due to issues with the number of clinical hours completed by the students.

yep. no hands on experience means lesser chance of hiring..

Yes that is how it is here. With all of the LPN's graduating from brick and mortar schools, online degree earners aren't really considered. Many nursing homes will not hire as well due to lack of really any clinical hours. And out of many people I knew who started online bridge programs, only one actually completed it.

l I am at ECPI earning my lpn and thought about doing the RN bridge kinda of scared to now.... do you think the hiring rate and pay is gonna be ok in Raleigh for just lpn

If you want to go the online route I would suggest making sure the states you want to work in will accept the program(School). Like Thecommuter said, many boards of nursing wont accept them because of the clinical hours. I was thinking of going though online too but my state's BON wouldn't accept the school I was interested in. Check the BON's website of your state or the schools website to see if its stated.
