Lost and confused...

A lot of it depends on where you live. I'm doing an ADN because it doesn't sound like I will have any trouble getting a job with that around here, so it's the cheapest option and I'll let my employer pay from there. If you are in California - good luck. Sounds awful out there. lol

If all you have now is an associates, accelerated BSN programs may not be a good fit, since they are designed for students that already hold Bachelor's degrees. You may do another associates in nursing, or perhaps research and, if qualified, to apply to BSN. As far as Master's Direct Entry, I think you are shooting too far. Get a BSN first.

Getting another Bachelor's Degree so that you can enter an accelerated BSN program in the future makes no sense. Go for the traditional route BSN now.

I am a little lost and SO confused. Any advice, opinions and experiences from the same situation would be greatly appreciated.

I have my Associates completed in general education. I have started working on my RN Pre-REQ's, but is there anything else I should be doing?

Also, I have having torn conflictions as too if I should go to a ADN, BSN, Accelerated BSN Program (after going back to school to complete a whatever Bachelors - which kind of seems silly at this point) or Entry Level Masters of Nursing Program. Which is the best route and why?

There is just so much information out there that it is hard to pin point my compass.

Well, I say it depends largely on your finances, what you plan to do with a nursing career, how good the programs are, etc. For me personally, I am choosing to get my ADN first. It is significantly cheaper, hiring in my area is not an issue, the starting pay is the same, the school I want to go to has one of the top pass rates for the NCLEX, and I have the option of doing a concurrent or dual enrollment to get my BSN (another one to two years of schooling in person or online). Some hospitals will even pay for their nurses to get their BSN.

Getting your BSN will be more expensive, but you can start pursuing higher education faster. I also heard that people more likely to get promoted tended to have their BSNs, but this is not always the case for certain positions. I would agree that getting a whatever degree to do an Accelerated BSN Program would be a little silly, but you do what you have to do!

Nursing.org allows you to explore different options. I also want to direct you to Ashley Adkins, RN on Youtube. She has a couple of videos breaking down ADN vs. BSN and why she chose one over the other. Nurse Bass also has a video on why he decided to purse an ADN. I would definitely recommend checking out the website and the two youtube channels I mentioned. I find them to be a great nursing resource in general.
