how long?

Published

i'm deciding on whether or not to do EC...and i was wondering if anyone had any idea how long it might take me...i was planning on doing the LPN-ASN and then do ASN-BSN in a brick and morter...

pending transfer credit, i already have all of the non nursing requirements (micro, a&p, psych, soc, humanities, electives) so i'm figuring it might not take me all that long....

thanks!

It depends on You. Everyone is different. Some people take 2month,6months, several years to complete the exams. The CPNE takes 6 month-1year to get scheduled. I finished all my exams expect the FCCA's in 6 months 24 days, now waiting on a CPNE date. You may want to scroll down a little because someone asked this same question not too long ago.

thanks! yeah, i saw that thread, but it seemed like most people didn't have all the non-nursing classes done when they started EC so i was wondering about how long it takes if you did have them done....

Again, it depends on how fast YOU move through each exam. Since you have most of the GE credits, you should try to move VERY fast so you can stay motivated. Staying motivated is very important from what I'm seeing here on the thread. I personally want to start ASAP upon graduation. I'll be doing the exams with my best friend in my class and we are vowing to stay motivated and helping each other. Honestly, she is one of the reasons why I'm still in the LPN program because she is so positive. I think you could get through those NCs very fast. Many people would love to be in your shoes with all the GE out of the way. Jump on board, lvlelbee!

Tests took me a little over 17 months. I dragged y feet for a LONG time on NC 4. Now, it's been waiting for a CPNE test date.

When I originally applied to EC I had planned on completing the program in about a year. Then I changed jobs, moved about 3 times, changed jobs a second time, and I ended up dragging my feet. My graduation date is set for August 15th, so it took me a little under 3 years total to do it all. I had all my pre-reqs done from previous school experience.

It depends on how comfortable you are with the nursing concepts material. Six weeks of mine spanning April and May were spent taking four nursing concepts tests, and I got A's on them. (I had the other tests done a while back.) I've read of someone doing all the nursing concepts tests in a week, though I don't know if I'd have the stamina for that. However, resist the urge to take two tests in a day. That is my very personal public service announcement for today.

EC is a bit on the slow side with the whole CPNE, though. You will essentially hurry up and wait.
