Live Scan question

I need to get live scan done for my RN license application coming up in a few months when I graduate. I decided to apply to get my CNA certificate based on my RN school experience cause I need some extra cash and need a Live Scan for that too. I already had to do Live Scan once for my peds rotation and might need to again for wherever I get hired. Is there a way to get it done once and not have to go in and pay $60 over and over again? It seems a little redundant to get my prints done 4 times in a under six months and I'm pretty broke as it is (hence the need to get CNA cert and a job). I think there's some hard copy option that cost more, does that work for both RN and CNA licenses in California? Any info is appreciated.

I'd be surprised if they made it that easy for you. First of all, RNs and CNAs are under the auspices of different agencies in CA: the BRN and the Department of Public Health, respectively. Second, it seems that as of July 2005, the CA Dept. of Justice started only accepting fingerprints by Livescan (that affects CNA applications, not RNs). Third, not only does the manual fingerprint method cost more and take more time to process, but you'd have to request the card directly from the BRN, suggesting to me that they're not likely to share their results with other agencies.

If it's any consolation, the facility I just started working at required a Livescan, but they have the equipment to do it in-house. You may not be expected to absorb the cost of doing it again if an offer of employment is on the table.

I did my prints today in anticipation of graduating in May. Texas insists on L1 Identity Services. It cost me $9.95. You're paying $60?

I think where I work (California), the live scans are transferrable somehow. Perhaps you can contact HR or somebody who does a job like that?

The bulk of it I believe is for the CA Dept of Justice, so that could explain the cost difference. Looks like I'm probably gonna be stuck paying multiple times unfortunately.

That stinks.

I had my fingerprints done when I worked at my kids' school through Board of Education Live Scan and I still had to re-do then for my nursing license recently. it seems crazy that they had to be done twice. Cost was $71, $51 goes to Dept of Justice.

I paid $71.00 for mine. Does anyone kow if you can find out what your own background check says.
