Sounds like you didn't pass the FCCA?
Just explain that you "tried an independent study distance learning program and it did not suit your needs as a student. "
If you failed out of several different programs, different story but that is not your scenario. While many are successful with the EC LPN to RN bridge, it is a tough independent program that is not the best fit for the majority.
You tried. Now you know you need a different format.
Good luck.
It's heartbreaking but move forward. IMHO failing out of an independent distance program known to be challenging for most is much easier to explain why you failed basket weaving 101 and freshman orientation.
You can do this. Spin it that now you confirmed you need a hybrid or traditional program.
I would also encourage you to think of some ways that it has taught you a lesson and how you plan on improving yourself such as you identified a weakness and you are now seeking a different type of education class. Also, practice talking about the failure to yourself. The more you talk about it, the more easier it is and the more natural it is.
I quit my first nursing job after four months. I had to be able to tell why I was quitting in order to get my job. I did this frequently in the car. I managed to get several job offers.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I was concerned of what a traditional college would think of me and what mistakes I made. I am now holding my head up and excepting the fact and learning where I went wrong. I am not giving up being an RN!! That is my goal and I am sticking to it.
Also, I will tell you a little bit about the schools in my area. We have had a lot of people drop out or quit to go to other schools in our area. Then we also accept transfers. It isn't that uncommon but the schools prefer you to be able to talk to about the mistakes/lessons learned/plan to make it better/etc.
My school also will allow students who do not pass the traditional RN class to go to the LPN program and then reapply later for the LPN to RN route and they get credit for classes passed since some LPN to RN classes are the same. And some people go from the LPN to RN route to the traditional route.

It is very difficult to discuss this but I know that I am not the only one this has happened to. I attended an on line college and taken all of nursing classes and when I got down to the very end of program, I failed the on line exam. No longer in the program. I was told to change my major or go to a local college. Now, how do I explain to a prospective college about my situation. I am not stupid, just really devastated.
