I live in Illinois I am married with 3 children 12, 10, and 18 mths. I am currently and LPN starting in Jan. I am going back to school to get my RN, BSN. I have worked in HOme Health Care basically since graduation. I have worked on the same case for the same child. Right now I am only working per-diem and taking care of my baby at home then starting school.
Every day we have a Good Morning Thread where we go to let each other know what is going on, give support, or vent. You are welcome to come and join

I would like to be in Nursing school - but despite straight A's - no luck - Ivy tech is so difficult to get in to due to competition. Live in North Central Indiana.

I have been a nurse for 1 year and have worked in LTC the whole time. I hate it!
50 residents on my hall and 1 to 2 CNA's . Talk about busy! 15 BS checks each morning, plus the rest of moring meds. No breaks! YToo busy! I eat in 5 minutes as I write NN's entries. I am going to ry hospital nursing, probably med-surg. I hope the pace is not so fast. Do you think it will be? I'm near Ft. Wayne.

faithrn2002, I lived in Muncie for 2 years while I went to Ball State. I lived in the dorm for a semester and then I illegally according to school rules, lived off campus on Marsh Street, then I lived on Calvert. Strangely enough, nursing wasn't my major, political science was and I wanted to go to law school and work for legal aide. My so called best friend got mad at me when I changed majors. She said, "nurses don't make sh*t". Haven't spoken to her since. Her loss. Sorry I am rambling. It's nice to talk to people who live close by. Oh, I live in Greensburg, about 90 mins south of Muncie.I applied to the ASN program at Ivy Tech in Columbus and didn't get in, despite excellent NET scores and a 3.5 gpa. Just ordered a bunch of books to brush up on my math and reading. Can't take the test until April I think, but I'm starting as soon as the books arrive! My dear mother is about to hit menopause and I don't want to hang around any longer than I have to!bethin

I'm a fairly new nurse, working in the lafayette area. Because of the info in other posts I prefer to not mention which of the 3 hospitals I work at I am in ortho neuro, and I enjoy it alot at this time. I've only been there 3 weeks. I plan to go to nights soon. Good to meet you all.

Hey guys! Finally some more chit chat in the Indiana area!! I will hopefully get into the new RN program at Lawrenceburg Ivy Tech next Aug. 2006. I have been studying that dang TEAS practice book till wee hours of the morning every night! So being a student still, how is it finally working as an actual RN or LPN?
I love/fear the awesomeness amount of responsibility we have and the ability to give honest caring care to a patient. So far I love my job.
