Hi allnurses!!
Okay so I am done with nursing, have been at it for almost 10yrs, got thrown under one too many buses. It is a career that was fulfilling and rewarding, however I am done. So my question is where to go from here?? I am very good at administrative duties, communication with the public, and consider myself a very well articulated, and well rounded person in general. Any thoughts, comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also best place to start in regards to re-formatting my resume'? Thank you all in advance!! :-)

Right there with ya. I am teetering on the fence myself on what to do once I (if) I get out. Been thinking of opening my own business up anything from liquor store to an rv campground lol. But seriously I jus don't want to do it anymore and tired of all stress and expectations that one sometimes simply can't meet. If you think of anything would love to know.

I'm with you. Unemployed one time too many for too long a period of time. Unfortunately, when in this situation in the past, I was unable to get work elsewhere. I did not work again until I could get nursing work again. If you successfully reinvent yourself please divulge the secret. Do you have any friends or relatives that can hook you up with a job as a favor?
You might want to start out with temp agencies. Sometimes they can set you up with a temp to hire position that works out and it is better than nothing at this point.

Why not a different type of nursing? it sounds like you could use your skills in community nursing

Not done with nursing until you have figured out your alternative.
Do a site search here and you will be pleasantly surprised at the many opportunities available to you.
Thank you ALL so much for the replies, here I never even saw them until now...lol, all this time I thought no one had replied. Let me tell you what has transpired since...going to start a new thread!! But thanks again and I really appreciate all the input here. Nice to know I am not alone in this nursing life!! xoxoxoxo

the coolest "i quit nursing" story i've heard...one of the guys i used to work with decided he had enough. He stayed for another month and took as much overtime /extra shifts as he possibly could. dude literally worked 12 hours a day, every day, for a month. then he took off with a hand-held steadicam, backpacked around the world, filmed all kinds of interesting things, and made a youtube channel. he did this for a year, and then the travel channel signed him on to do camera work for them.
from nursing, to getting paid to travel the world. i'm impressed and beyond jealous.

I went to DME company. I do education and rarely do any assessments. Pay is about equiv to LVN but who cares I've been doing it for about 4 years and very little stress. More money doesn't mean happy life!
