Large (or small) Corporate chains

I worked for a mom and pop ltc once and they had a stupid rule about the bed spreads in a residents room must match the drapes. People were getting written up and reprimanded not doing this. Seriously!

The worst company i ever worked for was extendicare (I worked at 2 of their facilities and they were both horrible). The absolute best one where i am now is OPRS (ohio presbyterian retirement services).

I worked in a mom and pop place in the town where i grew up as well...it was okay, although i still have nightmares about the awful pink uniform i had to wear lol.

Best nursing home I ever worked in was run by the Lutheren Evangelical Society in Montana. Gave a fiscal accounting to staff each year and the Board of Directors even took lower $$$ to ensure the nursing staff got raises. They treated everyone wonderfully. If you do things for the right reasons the $$$ will come and they were proof postive of this.

I have worked per diem for major for profit chains in Maine, can't really say anything negative about either one...I have also worked full time for a small hospital based Not for profit and by far prefer this situation.

Very rural, community needs focused. Financially we are obligated to meet a break even budget so any extra monies are turned back to the facility. Our wages tend to be higher than average for the area, the benefits are great as we are part of a larger hospital health system and we the residents have what they need to have needs met.

All residents have electric low beds with low profile safety mats available, pressure reduction mattresses, w/c cushions etc.

The focus is very different.

They made guys wear pink uniforms? I'm surprised they could get any of you to do it! Light pink business shirts are one thing nowadays, but a full pink uniform? Ugh. Many women won't wear that.

Trust me,it wouldnt have been my first choice lol. I had initially asked about a different color but the owner pulled the paper out and was like "NO, it says nurse aides wear pink right here, see?" I can wear whichever uniform I like where i am now, so I got some animal and character tops, and the residents look forward to seeing my xmas tops every year :-) Wow, totally off topic, sorry dont flog me!
