Laptops for Lecture Notes ~ Anatomy

Published

does anyone here bring there laptop for lecture and type notes? my lecture class is about 200 people, lab is about 20. but my professor moves very fast and a lot us can't write as quickly as she goes. she lectures the whole class for and hour and half - constant note taking - not even enough time to take a sip or water or blow your nose. so i'm going to take my laptop for notes tues and i think a voice recorder too. what do you type your notes into? word or one note? any suggestions? i'm a little scared to do this, i don't know why, but it's new to me...any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not using my laptop for A&P, my professor is lecturing straight out of the book. I used to use my laptop in grad school though, I would just type it straight into Word. I would then go back later and fix formatting, paragraph breaks, etc.

I would use word. I've never had any problems with it. Every other one I've used it seems like something isn't working. At least the teacher isn't wasting your time. I had a statistics class that was 2 hours long and he didn't start teaching until an hour and a half into the class. Whew! Good luck and drink plenty of water before she starts!

me personally i use one note it is easier to move things around and keep everything together.:typing

No, I haven't used yet. But I am thinking about voice recorder. If your professor allow you to take laptop in the classroom then take it. It's easier.

love onenote 2007. i have a convertible laptop (tablet/laptop) into which i write all of my notes. our prof makes his ppt slides available to us so i just take notes on anything extra he adds (especially peumonics!).

i have onenote but i've never used it before. my professor doesn't provide any of her slides or notes, she used to provide an outline previously and i don't know why she stopped.

:yeahthat: If it's a class I don't record I'll sometimes use Journal, just because it's less complicated. But for the biggies like A&P, I recorded using OneNote so the recording and my notes would be synchronized.

wow, not cool of your professor. if i were you, i would record all the lectures. also, isn't there some kind of new computer recording pen that's out now?? something like that would be a neat idea.

My professor does not allow laptops in class. I use a voice recorder and type my notes into OneNote. I love, love, love OneNote. It is so easy to use. By the way, how do you record with OneNote?

There's record button on the toolbar :-D It looks like a little microphone. You can also find it under the insert menu (I use 2007).

Oh and I've had a Prof who didn't let laptops in his class, but I spoke to him after class and showed him my laptop. I promised not to type in class, just to write...and he let me use my tablet convertible in class.

I know this may be a stupid question, what is OneNote? How do I find it? I'd appreciate any help, thanks!
