LACC vs COC

I got accepted to LACC and COC for fall 2014. Any recommendation about either of them ??

Hello! I was accepted to COC to start this fall. I for one have been SO impressed with their process.

What i do know about COC is they are accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC). I am not sure about LACC's program as i am not too familiar with it.

COC is my home school and i live only a mile away. At the end of the program, both programs offer an Associates in Nursing and use the CA Community College tuition schedule so cost about the same.

Also, they both offer he BSN collaboration programs. COC uses CSUN and LACC uses CSULA. Although i believe as Fall entry students, we are not eligible for the CSUN collaboration. Thats okay though, CSUN has an RN-BSN program that we can complete after we are done at COC.

It really comes down to your personal preferences such as how far you live from each of the schools, familiarity with the school, etc.

As accepted students at COC, all of our requirements are due to the Nursing department by 5/29. Hopefully you are working on getting them done so if you choose COC, its still an option. If they dont have everything by 5/29, you forfeit your seat.

Good luck whichever school you decide and maybe we will be classmates!

A friend of mine was accepted to LACC and hats her home school. I will refer her to this post to comment further on LACC.

Thanks for the reply excited1. I got really impressed with the COC location, program and the collaboration. They are super organize. I completed most all the folder 2 but still needs to finalize Kaplan and the uniform. COC will save me the traffic as their is no traffic to Valencia from the valley (sherman oaks). LACC only offer 40 students for the program vs 60 students at COC so I still debating. I am not sure which I will go for but I hope I will make the right decision.

Usually COC does 40-50, but they received a grant this semester which allowed them to add an additional 10 students. The uniform stuff isnt available yet so dont worry about getting that done by 5/29. Good job getting everything done! When do you have to let LACC know?

I need to let them know by August 11 when the boot camp start. I already confirm my seat with them just incase. I am waiting for LAVC to send their notification letter as this will be my first choice but they will only let me know by mid-June.

So then you still have plenty of time to make a decision :)

Have you completed folder 2?

Yes. I completed everything and submitted it to them Thursday and received confirmation from them Friday morning. They are so fast at responding and highly organized. Did Kaplan yesterday and sent them a copy of that yesterday so i am officially DONE with that folder! Wooo hooo. Cant wait to get our schedules!

And yes, definitely let me know what you decide.
